Hobby plans for 2024

Happy new year hobbyists!
In this video I talk about my plans for the year and the lead mountain. Lots of Napoleonics and Napoleonic-tinged fantasy on the horizon, but maybe WW2 as well. I will try and produce painting guides for horses and brown cloth this year, as they were suggested by viewers last year. I am also keen to paint up models (of any period) from smaller manufacturers. I am a massive Perry fanboy, and have loads of Victrix and Warlord figures too but I would like to show off what smaller names in the industry produce. I am up for taking suggestions. Happy New Year to you too! You seem to have a variety of subjects to paint and some interesting gaming projects to keep you busy this year. Look forward to seeing your progress in future videos. I’m with you on the gaming famine of 2023. My wife and I moved up to Montrose in summer 2022 and I took the drastic step of selling all my 28mm collections as part of the downsizing process. We then had a load of work done on the house and so I have started from scratch on quite a few different projects in various scales. Trouble is I haven’t yet painted enough to try a game😂. Also like you, I haven’t made any hobby resolutions but will just see how the year goes. I’ll be playing solo from now on and so no pressure to complete anything in particular, which may or may not be a good thing. Those Italians look lovely and it will be interesting to see your videos on other manufacturers output. Cheers Keith

Yeah, I'm leaning towards solo gaming to scratch the itch. I suffer from only wanting to game on fully modelled tables with fully painted and based figures. In theory, I could play the first scenario from The Silver Bayonet solo tomorrow, but my terrain doesn't have enough gothic weirdness, nor modelled clue markers. Why use a coin when I could paint a casualty or gravestone?!

Not sure if ECW your period, but if you’re looking for some fantastic figures to paint you’d struggle to beat Bloody Miniatures. They’re an absolute joy to do. 👍

It is one of the periods I have not really done anything with at all. They do look fantastic. The same sculptor does the Jacobite range that Flags of War sell, and I really enjoy painting those.
