It might be more tricky and/or expencive with licensing concerning US rig vs European. The Freighliner Cascadia, and the Ford(?), are the only 'real' US truck model they got, while the others are fantacy models. All the europeans trucks are 'real', licensed models. I would not mind seeing some real Peterbilt and Kenworth models

8 = 8 wheels, as duals aren't counted as seperate wheels, the first 4 = number of driven wheels, the /4 = number of wheels for steering. but the /4 usually isn't mentioned on a normal truck, due to the fact that it is standard to have 2 wheels that steer, but the / means an option for that many wheels with the axle dropped.
@michaelthomas3646 Жыл бұрын
otherwise it would be written as 8 wheels x 4 driven wheels x 4 steering wheels if the lift axle wasn't included in the truck design.

Hi Bob, i got to tell you, your an awesome builder and also congratulations on your KZbin announcement. There is no surprises there at home many viewers and subscribers you have. Your builds and videos are always eye catching, instructional and simply a joy to watch. Rather see a 40 minute of one of your build then mainstream TV:). Anyway enjoy your latest video on 770 and how you managed the axle lift...Awesome. There will most likely be an order placed this year for sure...thank you again for all the fun you bring to this hobby.

Thanks for showing Bob. This is one of my favorite new model this year. But wasn't it announced as 8x6? (BTW 8 wheels 4 driven / 4 steered - for normal thesteered aren't mentioned). Maybe it was too expensive to put a third driven axle into the kit🤔. Looking forward for your build

I could get one and spread the cost. But then you need the radio gear, servo for the uplift. Nah tamiya are having a laugh. I’ll get the older model Scania I think. Imagine getting this kit and fin up the paint job. 1000 down the toilet

@@tylerblues2246 it adds up pretty quick with radio, lights, sound, esc, a better motor, 3 servos, ballbearings, paint and so on.

How well do these Tamiya semis do off road? Not crawling but say, grass or semi-smooth trails?
@Rimrock300 Жыл бұрын
Off road capabilities are close to zero, out of the box. The 'big thing' with the Tamiya semis are their well designed cabs, while the drivetrain, suspension and tires are pretty basic, prepared to drive on a smooth surface like the living room floor. But not getting over the doorstep to the kitchen) that said, there are many suppliers of upgrade parts for the Tamiya trucks to make them able getting off the living room floor, like softer tires, locking axles, better suspension. $$$ ;)

Check out the Tamiya trucks in this video. Basically most are pretty stock but with the rear ends locked up. You can lock them easily by putting silly putty of hot glue in the rear diff's. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWGyXn1ojtRpY9E

👋 Bob, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪, I had the same Idea and build this amazing 🤩 Scania Truck next time . I really like this one, it’s my first and only Scania. I would look for some extra pieces for the light and soundsystem, aluminum rims for the wheels, other rear axels the are blocked for more grip when sliding and the other motor. It’s very interesting and I really watch your videos for tips to build beautiful trucks 🛻👍💪 I‘m curious how you do that with the lift axle and servo

@Rimrock300 Жыл бұрын
It is surpricingly costly compared to the standard 3 axle 770s. The 4'th axle and the tower behind the cabs comes at a steep price. The 3 ale versin will look good with all sort of trailers, while this speiality heavy hauler 'needs' a long low bed to match

I can’t believe the price of this man and you have to pump more money in for the thing to run. It’s too expensive over a grand in Britain. Joke. I love the detail that tamiya do but they over charge the crap out of their kits. Even the cars, man they come with plastic ball bearings that are unfit for purpose. I remember in the 90s the boxes for the cars were amazing now they’re just stuck on pictures with everything loose in the box.
@froop4852 Жыл бұрын
A pretty embarrassing release from Tamiya. There's way better options on the market from other manufacturers with better features, performance and looks. Not even a servo for the lifting axle? Come on. Even Hercules Hobby does locking differentials in the plastic kits.

@@froop4852 No big deal about price levels, but In europe one get the 770s 8x4 + MFC + a handfull of servoes at about 1100 usd, no VAT included. A similar Lesu heavy hauler is twice that. The Lesu can really haul stuff, while the Tamiya hardly crawls over the kitchen doorstep in it's original configuration.
