After waiting MANY weeks, setting an email alert and checking HK website almost daily, I finally saw TWO of these MX2s come available in the USA Warehouse last Friday (4/22) morning, ordered it (the other one sold in MINUTES after I ordered mine)and it just got delivered TODAY (Monday 4/25) in Las Vegas - That is GREAT SERVICE!! 🙏😁 I will be building it with the z-bends and easy connectors you mentioned. I will follow your lead and compare this plane's flying characteristics with the Saber 920 AND the Skynetics Swift EPP (1200MM). Thank you for your videos on this plane and the Saber 920, John 🙏😉

You're welcome. It's not going to win any beauty points but it's a great 3D trainer. Very rugged.

@@RCVideoReviews John - I flew the MX2 today and it flew OK - May I trouble you with what RATES and EXPO you set - Low/Mid/High and did you set ALL the surfaces the same or different - ie, different percentages on aileron, rudder, and elevator? Also, what size prop(s) have you used? - Thanks

I read some reviews on the MX2. They say it needs better cooling for, well, everything. Looking forward to the next video on this one. Fun to watch. No damage to the plane itself is cool. AirHammer out!!
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
I'll let you know what I find out about the cooling. I didn't fly it long enough to really see that become a concern. I'll know more after the new batteries/motor/esc show up and I fly it. Thanks for checking-in, J

If it could go wrong on this plane it did. Dave got a kick out of how the plane got off the ground with almost no power. I'm looking forward to HAMMERING this plane.

I know this is not a new vid at this point but this is the most realistic account of what it's like to go out with a plan in mind for a plane and it just gives you a bunch of troubles. Great attitude! Any updates on how it flew with the 1400kv ? Hope you got some fun practice on that
@RCVideoReviews2 жыл бұрын
It's not a great flying plane, but it's a cheap plane that enables risk taking without fear of loss. I just flew this plane last weekend and had a good time with it. It doesn't need much motor, so whatever your w/lb preference, it will probably be ok with this one.
@koalatails63914 жыл бұрын
Lots of fun without the anxiety of breaking an expensive plane. After I snapped 2 slow flier props on my EPP plane (1, only because it tipped forward in long grass). I decided to use a old & cut down prop from Parkzone Trogen. The plane probably lost some of the 3D capabilities, but I don’t have 3D skill. This prop is almost indestructible! On a 600 gram plane. A nosedive into the ground that split the EPP in several places is proof. Fortunately, EPP bounces back to shape, so it was glued together & flying again.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a creative solution to the prop problem. Good work! You hit the nail on the head regarding anxiety: There just is none with this plane. Awesome fun.

I have the HK Michael Wargo version of the MX2. I bought it for the same reason as you (cheap basher). It has upgraded hardware, ball link rods, etc. I have a lot of fun with it after trying several different power combinations. So much so that I bought a second one as a spare.

How is it holding up for you? I have a lot of fun flying this little plane. It flat out encourages bad behavior. I do things with it I won't yet consider on bigger planes.

Good job! Those are fun. I have one too but the Extra 260 Hobbyking. You'll see that, the hover routine you just did is WAY easier with bigger planes. Keep practicing and throwing that basher around ;)

Did you use the recommended motor? "2217 950-1100KV Brushless outrunner " or what motor thrust is needed for this aircraft?

Noice!!! I think I found my next purchase
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
You’ll need thin and medium CA. And get yourself some quick connects for the pushrods. The heat shrink thing....meh. I went back for the Leopard motor I discussed in the Smoked Rimfire video but they were out of stock. I’ve been wanting to try those v3 Sunnysky motors though so it worked out.
@robertcovell27874 жыл бұрын
I had a similar motor issue with an FMS J3. Motor would just arbitrarily quit during flight. If I cut throttle it would re-start and the BEC always supplied power for the receiver. Tried new ESC, never did solve it.
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
I replaced the esc, batteries and motor and the problem is gone. I'm pretty sure it was a soft cut on the esc due to battery voltage sag.

Four crashes ? Well that`s what ya` get . Crap motor , crap esc , and crap battery , I couldn`t think of a better test of an airframe . You have found the ultimate basher . The public is dying to know how that skylark s is going to fly with that hotdog leopard motor . I have one on the way accompanied with hotdog gforce motor . Also , your romance w/ the smoove can`t be over already . We want more flights and more about assembly . You guessed it , skylark is the trainer plane for the smoove I`ve also got coming . Thanks for being there for a geezer that`s been out of the hobby for 35 years w/ still a lot to learn about electic flight . Keep Cool

Nope, I still love that Smoove. I changed radios, so every plane I take out right now is ALMOST like a maiden. And because the radio is new to me, it feels like I'm flying somebody else's equipment. So imagine maiden flight with someone else's radio.... I have that Leopard motor in the Skylark and have flown it. I'll get some video of that one (I thought I did already). That Smoove is a brilliant plane. When that radio starts to feel like it's mine I'll get it out and fly it again. I flew the Kaos yesterday and that helped. The Kaos is an old friend at this point. Thanks for checking-in. Appreciate the comment... J
@RCVideoReviews4 жыл бұрын
FYI: The motor tested ok on the bench--it's the one in the "Smoked Rimfire" video. ESC is a Skywalker and it's the first one I've ever had go south. So this plane is a scrapper! Doesn't matter though, the Sunnysky v3 is on the way and I've wanted to test one of those for a long time.

@@RCVideoReviews what radio did you switch to ? I hope we can see Dave`s backup strategy for the smoove . I have a degree in aeronautical science and the smoove has me amazed how that thing flys .
