Great build! I had started watching your video on my phone while on my lunch break, but had decided to watch it on my smart TV was better, and it was. I like how you had tackled each issue and made it look easy while doing it. I wish that your video was around when I had assembled my 1/4 scale Lysander three years ago. Heck, I wish that I knew of your youtube channel back then. Oh well. I still need to assemble the electronics and pull-pull wires, plus get a hold of a motor, fortunately your video will easily cover those. Once again, thank you for your videos. They help out the amateur pilots like me.

So, I went ahead and bought a Cub Crafters xcub 60cc arf. A little on the pricy side when adding on the electronics but, the enjoyment from this hobby makes it worth every penny. Great video and I look forward to more!

I use the adjustable standoffs from Extreme Flight. The "Blazing Star" Standoffs. They have them in a few sizes and they are made extremely well (to withstand the extreme stresses associated with hard core 3D/XA flying). Each standoff comes with several different size sections...and different length bolts that can be added/omitted as needed to get the perfect length. I use them on my 3D and scale planes. Can't beat them. Makes getting the right spinner to cowl gap so much easier.

Quick question...How do you store the wings in the wing bags considering the metal strut assembly? does the assembly fold down?

I have a 50cc RCGF twin i am fitting in mine - yet the specs give much the same dimensions for the 40cc across the heads at 190mm as 50cc versions - yet you were able to fit the engine in with no plug cut outs - I have had to cut holes in the cowl to allow the plug heads to clear ...i can only assume seagull have made a smaller cowl in width between your model and the one i just bought. I actually have a spare cylinder for a 40cc one and was able to compare it against my 50 and the are the same height (width lying flat ) ...I got it sent in error so if anyone needs a new 40cc twin cylinder its available the manual makes no mention of stripping the covering off when you fit the 4 shaped front flap mounting parts, so good point there.

i have just assembled the wheels; ( which is NOT shown in the video ) the 4 bolts provided to join the wheel halves are too short to allow easy assembly - either get ones that are 1/2 longer and then cut them once together, or what i did what use clamps to force the halves together, as the big tyre makes for difficult assembly with the supplied bolts

Hello, great build!!! I built mine off your video as the manual was horrible. Would you mind sharing the programing for the spectrum
Looks great. Just one critique. Use a ball link on each end of your throttle. The metal to metal z bend can cause two problems. One metal to metal and gas engines can cause RF noise which can be very bad. Add to that the play that is present in the z-bend makes it tough to get a consistent and reliable idle. Cheers!
@maximumdeflection21134 жыл бұрын
Nicely done video. One thing i noticed was the slack in the pushrods to the carb arms. The vibration from the gasser will enlarge those holes causing more slop in the linkage or possibly worse break. You also want to isolate any possibility of rf interference from the EI by using some type of nylon, whether it be a ball link or clevis at the ends of the linkage to the carb and throttle servo.
@HobbyView4 жыл бұрын
Yes, eventually I plan to redo the linkage with a ball link just like I did on the P-47 build.

Beautiful model! I hope for a flight video, more than the 90 second teaser you dangled over our cage weeks ago! Whenever I get frustrated with a build & begin to be tempted to take short-cuts, I gain inspiration from your build videos wherein you take such great care in each detail. Thank you Fitz! And I apologise for repeatedly requesting you to sell me your Arcus M glider, that had to be irritating after the first couple requests. Currently I'm flying the Conscendo Evolution & I love it! To death! But resurrected it by buying a new fuselage for it and to slow down the landing I'm adding aftermarket air brakes. This should aid in it's longevity. Fitz, I love your instructive videos they are spot on tech wise and very entertaining. Could you give us a guide comparing the nitro engines to electric motor conversion? I have call many places and they try to impress me with nomenclature and acronyms.. I m about to pull out the rest of my hair. I talked to a guy on KZbin that does explaining of electric vs fuel. He only insulted me saying or rather implying that I was stupid. thanks if you can help, I really don't want to get electronic engineering degree just to know what motor I need for what airplane.

Ok, when's the flight review coming? I am very interested in how those movable leading edge slats work. I was a bit surprised when I found out they were movable and coupled to the flaps. hi there sorry to bother but i have a quick question....so far all the planes i've had used 6.0 volt Nihm batteries, i am swtiching to 2S lipo 7.4 volt...i have hitec servos designed for 6 volts, can i use this 7.4 volt lipo with the servos? haven't tried that yet....appreciate your comments...or should i get a voltage regulator?
@HobbyView2 жыл бұрын
No. I would not recommend using a 2s lipo on non-HV servos. 2s LiPos can have a voltage as high as 8.2 volts fresh off a charge. You will need to use a regulator. Make sure it is a fairly powerful one.
