Hey mate, Fellow Aussie here! Its been a year since this video - just wanted to see your thoughts on the yak after a year. I've just personally come across it and am very interested in buying one. Cheers

Hey mate. I've really only used it a couple of times for various reasons but those couple of times it went great. If you happen to be Melb based we could work out a deal (I've got myself a fishing jetski now).

@@andyh5666 I'm Sydney based unfortunately.. the jet ski would be my ultimate, but don't think the wife would approve haha

Engel Live Bait 30 Qt Cooler with Rod Holders for the rear. Use either as a live well, catch storage or dry box for gear and has four rod holders....

Thank you for the suggestion. I've got a cooler I've rigged up with rod holders that I used on my jetski. Going to see if that fits first, to recycle it.

The bag is big.

It's a big kayak, haha. Fits in a small car though.

Nice just some advice is that try not to overthink your set-up and try and make it as simplistic as you can so it cuts down the time to set up and pack away. I make this mistake all the time with my kayak
@andyh56662 жыл бұрын
Yes, great point and thanks. The more junk, the more time consuming and the less enjoyable.

Need demonstration on how to repack all back into bag all of those things after your time out. Looks impossible to get all of that back into bag
@andyh56662 жыл бұрын
The Mirage drive and other accessories I first showed came in a seperate box with just the seat and the kayak itself packed into the bag. I'm not sure if the drive is intended to fit in as well. I notice Hobie sell a seperate shoulder bag for the drive.

Can you fit a sun shade on this kayak?
@andyh56662 жыл бұрын
Good question. I know Hobie sell a 'bimini' for some models but I'm assuming not this one. Might have to be a home-made job.
@diannemccoll14972 жыл бұрын
I saw the Bimini on the itrek 9 ultralight on another Utube channel. Given that they look like a similar boat, I thought maybe it would fit on here too. I have been looking to buy one of these, but can’t decide which one.
@andyh56662 жыл бұрын
Good one, I'll do a bit of research too. The bimini would be handy for here, Australia's hot summers. I think the iTrek range is so relatively new that accessories are still planned/coming out.

It doesn’t have reverse
@andyh56662 жыл бұрын
Yes, agree. I mentioned that in the video. Comes with standard forward only Mirage Drive. It could be swapped out (read - purchased) for the '180' drive, as I understand it - giving you reverse. But for my style of fishing, in open waters, I don't think that will be neccessary - famous last words, haha, before I've had a chance to use in anger..
@Plainview2002 жыл бұрын
You will be fine, but suggest you keep handy a short single blade paddle for quick maneuvering when needed. Easier than hauling out the double blade every time you need to back up a bit.
