Why I don't deep sea fish from a kayak anymore

Have you ever pointed at the screen and said this when watching Shark Week on the Discovery channel?
This very thing happened to me one time, although not in this particular video.
This is a very cool close call vid from expert kayak fisherman Mark McCracken.

Homey got GOOD swingin that thing by 1:20. Landing every one of them. And same reason I don't kayak at all anymore. Once bumped hard by a very large shark (unknown) ½ mile off shore in the Gulf off of Captiva island 1997 (I live in Ft Myers) and rushed and 50% tipped over by a 10-12' bull shark in the back bay behind Estero Island in a tandem about ¾ mile from anywhere to get out of the water at high tide. All mangrove. 2004. Hung up the paddle as I was certain we were going to drown/be eaten/drown then be eaten etc.

I was Marlin fishing off Avalon at Catalina Island (SoCal) and a hammerhead came up along side the Pacifica 44' Convertible we were on and the bastard must have been nearly 1/3 the LWL (Length at Water Line). Snorkeling offshore in Cozumel, '99-2000, around 20 feet from shore in maybe 50 feet of water, we had a 15-20 foot hammerhead coast along several yards (meters) below us. Looked so close, like you could reach out and touch it! Didn't seem to pay us any attention at all and was gone after a couple seconds. My companion managed to get off 2 very clear shots, with a bunch of chubs swimming along its tail, which gave the photo scale, so you could really tell the size of the thing. It literally looked the size of a Cadillac, and when its gills opened up it was like opening the trunk of a car. We two were so lucky that our guy wasn't hungry, or curious like the one in this video... I was very impressed that she was able to get those photos; as I had my finger on the shutter and at the very last split-second remembered that my flash was ON, and backed my finger off the shutter button. I didn't want to attract his attention... When I told my friend later she was lucky she didn't have her flash on (we were using identical Canon UW cameras), she said "Omigosh, I didn't even think of that"!!! :/
