They probably are, considering almost every accessory on that boat is hobie brand. When she was talking about how light it was, you could tell she was trying to sell it. Because the Compass is made of the better materials and its roughly the same weight and the outback is only 10 pounds heavier. On top of that i have never seen her use anything short of a Outback or PA on her actual channel as far as kayaks go.

I don't see how this boat beats a Old Town Salty 12'....

Oh, tough call on that comparison, Rickss69, but having fished both hulls on various waters: I would say the Salty is a bit faster for the effort expended peddling and maybe a bit tighter turning, making it awesome for chasing down schooling fish or for long trips to your destination or when battling current -- and you get instant reverse with the bomb-proof PDL drive. The Passport is more stable for stand-up fishing and sight casting on the flats and shallow water, and can be rigged with a multitude of excellent Hobie accessories -- and the drive fins fold flat in shallow water without removing the Mirage Drive while still offering some propulsion when flutter-kicked, but no reverse without upgrading to a 180 Mirage Drive. Both great choices, but it would depend on where/what type of water I was fishing and what I was fishing for. And of course, the OT Salty is approximately $480 more expensive, stock. Hard to go wrong with either when chosen for your specific needs.
