Absolutely awesome looking setup mate. What’s the sailing performance like? Do you need the outriggers to sail?

Nice Revo! Are the sidekicks ok that far back when sailing? I’m thinking of mounting sidekicks too on my 16 but I don’t want it getting in the way when I fish, so I was going to mount it further back right behind the rod holder pockets, but doing so will ruin the space in the tankwell.

EverydayJoe they are installed that far back because they would have been in the way, I intended to fit some tracks behind the seat on the gunwales so I could set up a pair of rod holders for trolling. They will be fine back there for sailing. Makes the 16 very stable.

@@starvin444 I'm also trying to decide where to mount the Sidekicks on a Revo 16. I like that where you have it at aft end of tankwell, you'd be able to reach inside to install with some bolts and washers. Do you know though, in that location, if you are able to reach back to put the sidekicks on, or take them off, while seated? Seems like maybe could be a drawback as sometimes it's convenient to leave the sidekicks off until conditions get worse and then put them on while out on the water.

@rjl2001 you can reach inside the hull via the hatch behind the tank well. I don't adjust the outriggers once I have launched, no reason why you couldn't with long arms.

That's a well kitted out Revo! Did you use the Berleypro kit to fit the GT52 transducer ? If so did it interfere with the image quality much ? Thanks
@starvin4445 жыл бұрын
I have used the BerleyPro on my old Revo13 with a Dragonfly, made no difference to image quality. One thing with all the covers even the Lowrance Ready is to keep them clean of sand and dirt as this can have a major influence on image quality. I prefer to hang off the cover and am careful when coming ashore.

Thanks for the info, I've just ordered a Revo 16 and wasn't sure whether to put my Striker 7SV on it, but I'll give it a go now with the Berleypro cover.

Can you stand and turn around in the revo without the outriggers?
@starvin4446 жыл бұрын
AZ0960440 anything is possible, but not something I would expect to stay dry trying.

@@starvin444 I appreciate your honesty. I'm a bass fisherman looking to buy my first kayak. I'm leaning towards a Revo, but unsure if I want to be able to stand. I'm starting to think being able to stand isn't all that necessary.
@starvin4446 жыл бұрын
AZ0960440 I have a 2018 Outback for freshwater, that I can stand in. Have tried the 2019 Outback and that is a very easy kayak to stand in. I use the Revolution 16 for long distance and saltwater comps where getting to the marks early is important, there is nothing faster, love it. Had the Revolution 13 previously, it's a little wider and therefore more stable, but it's a little slower than the 16. You need to get out and try a few before you buy.

Any drawbacks to the 16 vs the 13? I'm trying to decide between the two and am leaning toward the 16 purely due to the extra speed.
@starvin4447 жыл бұрын
The 16 is narrower and gives the feel of a touring kayak, initially doesn't feel as stable as the 13, you soon get use to it.
@PhivTooSix7 жыл бұрын
I'm going with the 16. I want speed. Everyone says you can learn stability but your yak can't learn speed.
@CDTJosh4 жыл бұрын
@@PhivTooSix did you go with the 16?
@PhivTooSix4 жыл бұрын
@@CDTJosh Yes, I went with the 16. I love it. It isn't as stable on flat water but it more than makes up for it with speed and stability in the surf because of the secondary stability. I can handle bigger surf now than my old Outback. The outback had a tendency to turtle easily in surf due to the lack of secondary stability. The major drawback to the 16 is turn radius. The only time I use my Outback now is when fishing small tidal creeks due to the need to do tight turns. I have the sailing rudder on both.

Is that a radio on the side of the crate?

Chris Nash, yes it is, I've fitted a Fusion StereoActive, great sound, radio and USB tunes. Best of all waterproof and it floats.
