Thought I was getting a notification for Waypoint Survival's channel when I saw Hobo stuff and Stanley pots. Lol. Great cook kit setup! Really love the waxed canvas carrying bag. Really adds to the bushcraft vibe!

Thank you for posting this video. I very much enjoyed it. Love your work with the waxed canvas. Very functional and well thought out. I bet your canvas bag will relax some with use and accommodate your hobo stove just fine. And who knows… maybe carrying your prep mat separately will keep it handy for other uses like a kneeling or sit mat(??). New viewer from central Indiana.

👍👍👍 .. nice 😊. I have very similar except that the Hobo Stoves are IKEA Utensil Holders (I made sets for all of my Family Members) .. the Stainless Steel being longer-lasting. I have a 'thing' about 'Rust / Corrosion' .. having grown up in a Sub-Tropical Coastal City (Durban, South Africa) with the then reputedly third-highest Corrosion Climate in the World .. back in the 60's and 70's, the death of motor vehicles 😫. I use a half-round-cut tin can with some strategically drilled holes therein as an adjustable windscreen. It slots inside the hobo stove and can be turned to regulate the amount of wind blowing in, or removed completely. Pots .. 'salvaged' and converted Stainless Steel Kitchen Containers .. Tea / Coffee / Sugar / etc. No fear, I replaced them with new Glass Versions before the 'Wrath of' descended upon me 😁. Bag Holder .. yep, slightly bigger is always good. I keep plastic bags in the kit ('dog poo pickup' bags are just the right size). After use with wood / charcoal, I pop the Stove into a plastic bag. It keeps the inside of the Cotton Bag Clean. Hey there, brother; that’s a nice kit you’ve got made there! Since you’re taking the time to share something awesome that you did with your own creativity and energy, I’d like to give back a little bit, It would be easy to get rid of that get rid of that hangup That you experience when you try to get your stove out of the bag, with almost no extra investment of time, money, or energy: Since you’re really handy and made your own bag for your stove, may I suggest that you put that bag back on the sewing machine and just zigzag the bottom part of that seam that makes the casing for the drawstring to the main part of the bag, being careful to avoid the actual casing? if you were to zigzag stitch at the width that just catches the bottom, part of the seam, and secures it down with the narrowest stitch you can have, you’ll eliminate your Problem that’s mildly annoying in daylight, but could be eating up precious minutes if you find yourself trying to set up camp a little later in the day when you don’t have much daylight left with which to work, or before the onset of a sudden and unexpected rain storm. alternatively, you could use the drawstring bag inside out. Your stove should slide out smoothly then. sweet design. Thanks again.

Thats a pretty thought-out kit! I wonder one thing. Would it be better to use the fan grate, or do you think swapping that for a can lid would be better? Then you could place the lid inside on the cross bars and use fuel tabs. Either way, i like how you have it all setup.

Thanks, you could use a can lid for solid fuel, that's one of the variations I've built. I'm not a fan of solid fuel so I didn't include one in the kit. Check out my variations video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZq4q5iGmp2mg8k
