That's exactly why I bought a 5 year journal! I have kids and I want to remember all the funny little things they do everyday. I also have the same cover it's just beautiful!

It’s such a great memory keeping exercise! Plus it’s making sure little things aren’t missed! The cover is so pretty, so pleased with it! X

I finished my 5 year Hobonichi last year and started another this year. The finished 5 year is such a treasure. I have all of the crazyness that was covid in mind becasue I started mine in 2019. I didnt use a cover on mine and the edges are a ittle scuffed but not bad. The cover did not seperate from the inside at all. You can put a bit of glue or fingernail polish on the bookmark if it bothers you. I didnt and after 5 years its fine. I will say becarefull not to bulk up your first year because it makes it hard to write in the next year becasue the book is curved sliaghtly as you write in the next years. After the 2nd year , when your writing in the 3rd year your at the center of the pages so it does start to even out again if you bulk up evenly. I was very careffull not to add any thing to thick after I realized this problem.

I wish I had the motivation to keep a diary like this, it's such a good idea and I'm so impressed with how you've filled practically every single day even when you've had a major life event. Will be really special to look back on.

Thanks! I don't know how I've managed to keep it up really but I'm so glad I have. It's definitely a habit formation exercise! x

I love the idea of making it into a 10-year journal. I'm 4 years into my Leuchtturm1917 and Hobonichi will be my next journal. I LOVE that cover!

It’s such an interesting idea isn’t it! I don’t think I could stick with it myself. The cover is so pretty - I love getting it out! Makes it easier to memory keep when you love your tools! X

I just bought the sterling ink version and I’m so excited! I have seen people use the other side to make a 10 year and that’s def an option but I agree that that’s a lot of a commitment. I like the idea of doing doodles and watching drawing growth

Ohh the Sterling Ink version is so pretty - I love their stuff, but it's so expensive to ship to the UK :( How exciting :) x

Aww so pleased you found it useful Catherine - I found it so frustrating when I was looking at getting mine that there’s not really any good internal videos! X

I speak Japanese and you guessed correctly about everything😆 that’s such a great reason to get one! I’m planning to get one to document the rest of my twenties. Thanks for the flip through🩷

I accidentally bought the Hobanichi A6 and I meant to get the Cousin, so I bought both and now I’m keeping up with five journals. So far this is only March, but I’ve been doing it. But next year I’m definitely going to have just a couple.

Loved your video, thank you! It will be a wonderful document of your baby's first five years. I wish the diary didn't have that quote at the bottom of each blank page--it prevents you from writing all the way across on your final year. Is it weird that I'm thinking of that? Probably. 🤦♀
@IllustriousShadowPlans6 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes it’s already really interesting to look back on last year. I agree, I think I might cover the bottom with some paper or something! It does feel like an odd design choice x

Wondering how they deal with feb 29th (leap year situation)
@IllustriousShadowPlans2 ай бұрын
They have a page for it! I can show you mine in another video. In my diary it’s a single page with 2024 at the top and a blank page opposite because there’s only one leap year in this diary time but in cycles with two (like a 2024 - 2029) there pages are split I think. I used mine to write a longer entry about my little boy as it’s near his birthday and then I’ve stuck in a photo of him every year so far, and will do every year when I get to the 1st March with a little update on what he’s doing :)
