I can totally understand your feelings re the monthly. Try using skinny washi so it stands out and you can see it over the grids

I was also struggling with what to-dos go where, so I made my own version of gtd that was customised to how my planner works for me and where I hold information, that really helped 😊

There is nothing boring about your planner. It's gorgeous! I am life-long professional creative and I absolutely do not like full color in my planner (the actual cover is a different story). I find it messes with my creative processes. Maybe a little here and there. I like it pretty functional. I am also a multiple monthly planner user and will fight anyone that comes after my pencil. It's critical part of my pre-planning. I appreciate you sharing what worked and what didn't. I I've been in a state of constant big life changes that started shortly before the pandemic and I haven't really gotten my planning feet back under me. I did better this year, but still had way more things that didn't work than did.

Yay!!! A fellow pencil lover! It’s just been meeting me where I’m at lately… lots of shifting plans! ☺️ Hope you find your planner groove… I think evaluating what’s working Vs what we’re just doing out of habit is helpful and I try to think that through each month!

Instead of a straight line that you can’t see try a narrow highlighter or washi tape. That works for me. Love you video!

I love your planning style so much. When you were talking about not liking the Cousin monthly, have you thought about tipping in your other monthly pages that you like so it covers the Cousin pages? That would give you the best of both.

I haven’t considered that just yet… it might be a little bulky for me, but that’s def something to consider on a month to month basic (only one at a time)

Great video as always, Julie! I’ve been having similar challenges with my HoCo. I love that planner for so many reasons. BUT, all the grids and red bits and extra text (English and Japanese) really messes with my brain. I prefer a clean canvas to work with. So, for my sanity, I reverted back to my personal rings with the nice clean inserts. But I haven’t given up on my HoCo yet!

Love your planning style so much. I plan to implement your weekly layout in my Cousin for 2023. Just getting back to paper planning for 2023 so a little overwhelmed. Trial and error. I know. I have practiced with your layout and I know my style will evolve. Thank you for sharing. I’m also getting back to stamps as well. Would it be possible for you to slightly trim the Lightly Inked stickers? They are beautiful!!! 😊

thank you so much! i’m excited for your 2023 journey. Just be patient with yourself… you’ll figure out exactly what you need from the Cousin! yes, it’s totally possible to trim the lightly inked stickers down slightly on each side to make them work!

I used your printables back in 2018, and have come back to them for this last quarter of 2022, and for 2023. Will you ever come out with a daily page? I LOVE LOVE LOVE your inserts. They are so elegantly simple, and the way they are set up suits my brain. But I really need a daily page! Even undated would be great-I don’t always need a daily page, but when I do, I really do! I loved some that I saw back in an older video, with morning/afternoon/evening sections. I could make up something myself, but it would be missing your touch, and I’m perfectionistic enough I want all my pages to match 🙄😏😁.

this is the video i've been hunting for since i decided to switch from HP and EC to Hobonichi! i've been playing in an avec for October and the rest of the year to try and get my shit figured out before Jan and I've been struggling with where to put what. like you, the monthlies feel too cluttered and visually jarring so i decorate and then only use my gcal...with the dailies, i've been waffling between journaling, daily planning and braindumps/lists and feel like i'm going in circles. laaaaastly i realized most of my weekly struggles are from over decorating. once i get started i go HARD and then i wonder why i'm not using my planner as much? maybe because i turned it into a sticker collage?? ha! so i'll be taking a more minimal approach for the rest of the year and beyond, and i juuuust decided to keep a creative journal/regular journal for all my deco desires. glad to have found you!

side note: have you tried using date covers on the monthly to get a more uniform look? i think for me it's the dark blue gray and red headers that throw me off the most so maybe making them cohesive would allow your brain to focus on the guts! i'm normally not a date cover/kit gal but could see that being useful for those spreads only.

Aww, thank you! I def have realized over the years that I rarely regret using LESS on my pages… often regret when I cross that line and use too much. So I try to err on the simple side! ☺️ I think we all have different tolerances of what that sweet spot is! ☺️

I’m kind of weird about using stickers in my HC. I love to build my sidebar but I kind of figure if I have to cover a bunch of elements in order to like my planner, maybe it’s time to select another one? There are too many options out there - I figure I can find something I like that stands on its own! 🤣

I love stacking my stickers from The Planner Spot in my sidebar! I think I have another video where I share how I build mine. Sidebars can also house a nice long to do list for your week. Lots of options!

And on another note - now I want more pens 😅🙈 And that mechanical pencil - how smart that the eraser twists like that? I’m using Pilot Supergrip atm & recently bought extra erasers (didn’t know it’s possible to purchase extra erasers before so that’s good), but they don’t last long anyway, so that Pentel pen just seems so convenient! Is it possible to buy more erasers for that one too? 😊

Are there any sticker shops that make date covers for Saturday and Sunday? I was going to look (just purchased my first Hoco yesterday) but because I LOATHE the color red😂. Never thought about the colors impacting the functionality of the week!

I don’t know of any stickers for that specifically but I’m kind of nervous to place stickers in the same spot week after week.. it eventually creates a little bump.
