It felt so poetic that Gretzky and co decided not to bring in Sidney Crosby because he apparently didn't have the experience. And then we got eliminated by Alex Ovechkin, who had just as many games of experience in the NHL as Crosby.

Even more poetic is that in 1998 he was the most experienced yet it let to the same result :D

Forsberg to Sundin to Lidström and WHAM. A legendary finish to three legendary players and to top it off, against Finland. It can't be any sweeter than that.

Nice to see Cheechoo get some love, he should’ve been on the team. Same with Marleau, Crosby, Spezza, and Staal. Marc Savard made a strong case for himself that year as well. Draper, Doan, Gagne, Smyth, and Bertuzzi probably shouldn’t have been there.

everyone execpt Bertuzzi was in the world cup of hockey 2004.. probl the reason why they picked them to Olympics 2006

To be a bit of a devil's advocate, Latvia's goalie was a brick wall that game. The goals differential shows how well he did. Why he didn't perform that well against the US, I chalk up to Latvia partying all night, the night before. 🤣

Poorly constructed indeed.

Just as how Canada blew it in the second Summit Series in 1974. They recovered in both cases, but still.

Yeah but was the gambling money all on them? Then you can see why they lost.😂

Not quite, getting goalied by the third best goalie of that generation could have befell anyone.

@@timtwoface You mean by the greatest goalie of the time? Third best of that generation, that was Brodeaur, Roy second a Hasek ruled them all just like he did that tournament...
