Both shooters one and two obstructed the goalkeeper ( shooter two particularly poor, even an FIH umpire might have penalised him), and shooter eight was guilty of back-sticks when attempting a reverse edge hit - so more practice on timing and footwork needed. Can you explain to me why so many shooters turn to put their backs to the goal.

yeah they put there backs to the goal because if they are doing so it is harder for the goalie to get the ball and to anticipate their movements with the ball

So the principle reason is to obstruct the goalkeeper? Isn't preventing a player playing at the ball by shielding it from them contrary to the Rules?
