You have to wonder how much longer Barry Trotz waits before he potentially makes a change behind the bench. We are getting close to the 20-game mark, and once you reach that 20 game mark. It gets harder to make up for a really bad start.
@usa917872 ай бұрын
Brunette took over in May of last year. Then they made big player changes which affects your locker room. A little over a year is not a fair shake for a new coach. Granted, I liked Brunette as a player and he's a good guy but if there's a necessary change you probably make it after next season unless this year is that much of a disaster. But at some point the GM also needs to take accountability for the signings of older players to longer deals.
@darthvader37422 ай бұрын
@usa91787 I don't disagree, but the coach is the easiest person to change. Something has to give and in situations like this it's usually the coach who gets the boot.

All 4 of their stars are over 30 yrs old... Josi is 34. Forsberg is 30. Stamkos is 34. And Marchessault is either 32 or 33. They’re an old team, they’re like the Boston Celtics when they signed “the big 3”…. Yeah it would’ve made a difference if it was 5+ years ago. And yea that first year they won the title, but after that they were done. If they don’t pull it together this year Stamkos will be done and Josi will be gettin there too. Marchessault is on the downslant side of things as well at this point. When you sign a bunch of old stars thinkin you just put an all star team together because you’re living a decade in the past, it never goes well. Like 95% of the time.

What is really interesting about all of this with the Preds is that they started last season in very similar fashion. They were 5-10 through their first 15 and went from a .333 Point % to a .664 Point % through the remainder of the season where the majority of that came from the U2 streak. Burnette's system just doesn't appear to allow for many errors if you don't have speed on the team. Speed has been the Preds' Achilles heel for a long time. Unfortunately, NSH's pipeline doesn't have much in the way of fixing it either, with the best being Tanner Molendyk, who is at least another year out. It's just interesting to see the team start in identical fashions 2 seasons in a row and have similar issues in both seasons where its mostly struggling with perfecting Burnette's system.

The three big UFA's received stats-padding treatment by their former teams. Honest returns for their big deals were always sketchy at best.
