They shoulda rebuilt after Pekka 'too good right now' Rinne retired. It's also not looking like Trotz' talent as a coach carries over as a GM. The Pens show why you can't rely on a core that's all over 30 in a game that keeps getting younger and faster. Only Predator I can think of in worse shape RN is Diddy.

You have to wonder how much longer Barry Trotz waits before he potentially makes a change behind the bench. We are getting close to the 20-game mark, and once you reach that 20 game mark. It gets harder to make up for a really bad start.
@usa91787
@usa91787 3 күн бұрын
Brunette took over in May of last year. Then they made big player changes which affects your locker room. A little over a year is not a fair shake for a new coach. Granted, I liked Brunette as a player and he's a good guy but if there's a necessary change you probably make it after next season unless this year is that much of a disaster. But at some point the GM also needs to take accountability for the signings of older players to longer deals.

@@nonoman305 exactly. Im a Flyers fan but really enjoy the preds and their fanbase. Watching the preds reminds me of what I have watched the Flyers do for so long. For years Id say it looks like the Flyers are on a penalty kill during a 5v5. They have not had a fast team in such a long time and I have been saying for years, we need speed and finesse in todays hockey. Watching the Flyers this year with Michkov and all these young guys proves my theory. And now im watching the preds seem to get stuck in that same rut. Straight up physical old school hockey just doesn't work anymore. These kids will just skate around you.

What is really interesting about all of this with the Preds is that they started last season in very similar fashion. They were 5-10 through their first 15 and went from a .333 Point % to a .664 Point % through the remainder of the season where the majority of that came from the U2 streak. Burnette's system just doesn't appear to allow for many errors if you don't have speed on the team. Speed has been the Preds' Achilles heel for a long time. Unfortunately, NSH's pipeline doesn't have much in the way of fixing it either, with the best being Tanner Molendyk, who is at least another year out. It's just interesting to see the team start in identical fashions 2 seasons in a row and have similar issues in both seasons where its mostly struggling with perfecting Burnette's system.

All 4 of their stars are over 30 yrs old... Josi is 34. Forsberg is 30. Stamkos is 34. And Marchessault is either 32 or 33. They’re an old team, they’re like the Boston Celtics when they signed “the big 3”…. Yeah it would’ve made a difference if it was 5+ years ago. And yea that first year they won the title, but after that they were done. If they don’t pull it together this year Stamkos will be done and Josi will be gettin there too. Marchessault is on the downslant side of things as well at this point. When you sign a bunch of old stars thinkin you just put an all star team together because you’re living a decade in the past, it never goes well. Like 95% of the time.

The three big UFA's received stats-padding treatment by their former teams. Honest returns for their big deals were always sketchy at best. They might be able to turn around the season if everyone pulls together, and focuses on soul-crushing defense. But that's not exactly why they picked up their scoring ufa's. Long-term, they're simply just going to need some high-end draft help.

@ ehh no points in his last three and no goals in his last six, he’s been pretty cheeks, and def not what a team needs to make the playoffs. But a bright spot considering how even more abysmal Bunting and Rust have been. Hes been there best winger which is really sad to say for a team that tried to make the playoffs last season ☠️

it’s early… look at the Oilers last year, and the Blues in 2019…. both teams were brutal in the first few months of the season

This Team is simply not jelling. The Avs, icing half an AHL Forward Roster, was flying past them last night.........yes, all of the young guys too. Saros could only do so much. It was watching two Teams going opposite directions, the Avs getting healthier and an old/slow Preds Team not on the same page. It was a fun game to be on the glass for as an Avs Fan💪💪

Hey HP, A lot of Habs fans and TV analysts are complaining about the hybrid defensive structure of Montréal which doesn't seem to work, but nobody's explaining what it means. Could you make a video to explain this system and maybe show why it fails in Montréal versus another team for which it properly functions?

As a Wild fan I don't want the Preds to get too good. But I do hope Andrew Brunette can get them to be respectable because he's a really good guy. We met him a couple of times when he played for the Wild and he really treated my son who was 7 or 8 at the time wonderfully.

That he’s keeping the opponent’s scoreboard from looking like a basketball game or that he’s only 5’11”? I’m a Caps fan but I watch the Preds just for Saros.

To be fair Trotz ment with the rebuild to speeding timetable with top prospects. Maybe that would mean few trades but I don't see major pieces being moved unless this continues. On another note how does draft pool look for next year? :P

Living in Nashville it’s funny to see how bad it is. Local radio folks don’t know why it’s going so bad and it’s the worst I’ve seen the team since moving here. I’m just glad I’m a Hurricanes fan so this doesn’t ruin hockey for me.

Same dude. Born and raised here in Smashville but my husband grew up a Caniac. I took on the Canes as my number one a couple years ago but Preds are both of our #2 and we went to the opener against the Stars. I remember 2016 and making it to the finals and my entire high school has watch parties. What is Nashville doing that Vandy football is our best in the city😭😭😭😭

I do not understand why someone would expect anything big from preds to begin with. They signed aging Stamkos, so one more guy with a great shot - that’s kind of it. I think people overrated them from the start and now are disappointed things do not work out. It’s like when Detroit signed alfredsson and modano early in 2010’s

I loved everything Stammer did for Tampa, but the preds wildly over paid for him. His Defensive skills have been tailing off steadily for years.

When you think you only need talent to win in the NHL. Not sure how many times I've played against teams I thought my own team was completely outgunned in terms of talent. You know what we had, that they didn't? Chemistry. Talent only takes you so far and the Preds are learning this the hard way. Unless those three guys mesh seamlessly into what they already have, this was the predictable outcome.

This season was supposed to be us going all in for the cup, I think we still try this system, if it clicks and we squeeze into a wild card we still got a chance, if not we rebuild. We get a nice draft pick cause we are good old 32nd, keep our old guys and let them retire as preds and build off of a new young core, we find a josi replacement or just improve our defensive depth, find players that meet our system and continue what we are tyring to do. but here is the other thing, every team has had a point where they sucked, I'm almost 19, I've got a good 70 years left where nashville might make my life enjoyable again.

Stanley Cup Champion teams are made up of a few things. 40% skill 20% coaching 10% grit 10% luck The remaining 20% is chemistry. You can sign all the MVPs you want. If they don't have synergy, you get to enjoy a highlight reel of great plays/goals during a losing game.

I do not care if my team’s systems are getting exploited because the team is careless, I am still blaming 100% of the team’s struggles on Luke Schenn, and you cannot stop me.
