Good take. These clips and the narration on this channel give me throwback vibes to ESPN2 hockey highlights coverage from the pre-lockout times, when John Buccigross was more entertaining and less cringy. Bobrovsy is a goalie with a very interesting history. In the season before he won the Vezina Trophy he played really badly and he questioned his play and his future as an NHL goalie. He was obviously close to call it quits. But then he went to Helsinki for the summer and worked with a group of goalie coaches who worked with about 10 other NHL goalies. He was not only able to stabilize his play but to completely turn it around. Since then there was not much stopping him. The combination of hard work, mental strength, confidence, and technical skills make him one of the very best for the last 10 years. Aside from Bob - its play-off time and it must feel like Christmas for most NHL fans. The intensity is great, the refs don't give a s.... about the rules, and it shows that a play-off winner is not born overnight. I believe it must be an age issue that one brings the urgency and toughness together for the few weeks that count. Talent might bring you to the play-offs, but hard work and sheer determination wins you rounds. It's not just Marner not showing up in Toronto...

Mini deep-dive on the Leafs: 1) When they (Dubas) signed Tavares, he wasn't what they needed. The Leafs were 5th in the league in scoring the year prior. 1a) The Leafs signed Tavares knowing his contract would age poorly. (Last year Tavares was 72nd in the league in scoring while making 11M). 1b) Tavares should be an 'A', not a 'C'. (My vote is Morgan Reilley for 'C'). 2) Every year the Leafs do the following: i) Think the latest goalie: Campbell, Murray, Samsonov is their savior. Meanwhile Freddie Andersen was all that was wrong and he seems to be doing ok in Carolina. ii) Shuffle the 'D' corps around. 3) I have never seen a coach mix-n-match lines more than Sheldon Keefe. Granted, I don't watch every game, but dayamn. 4) Somebody tell me what experience or credentials Brendan Shanahan had to be made President of Hockey Operations. Great player? Definitely. Run a business? Mmm, let's pump the brakes on that. For Toronto fans: * IF * the Leafs fire no one, keep Shanahan, and run the "Core-4" back AGAIN, then you know winning is secondary to TSG.

Patrice Bergeron took multiple paycuts to help the Bruins win. Matthews last summer? He expected to get paid. One wants to win, one wants the money. Bergeron and Marchand combined costed as much as him last season. I would organize my team around Bergeron over Matthews any day of the week.

This. BLOW IT UP. Build around Willy (who actually cares), Domi (who actually cares), Benoit (who plays with real heart), McMann (a legend), and Knies (for his potential). Get rid of the rest.
