Me personally I like a soft boot with a stiff top like my current sets. I do feel the v9 is a huge upgrade from the ve8

The strapping system could very well be the best on the market? Other than that plastic toe tie buckle. Why don't they just get rid of that? Does anybody really prefer that buckle? How do you reach out to Vaughn to try and get you on their radar? As if you already are not on there. I did make a request for you to do a video on their Facebook page. Somebody needs to make these videos to help consumers. The manufactures need to take the good with the bad. And, you do a solid job. Thanks Matt. Currently I am sitting on a set of Bauer Vapor 2x pro's, but this is probably gonna be my next choice for a second set of pads. Too bad it does not have a flat face. Something about the Vaughns that feel so right when they are on your legs. That pretty much goes, for all of their equipment. You just can't beat that feeling you get from one of their pieces of equipment, right out of the box or off the shelf.

I think their entire setup of straps is the best there is. They have the best implementation of the "professor" strap and everything else is simply yet high quality. I think the way the calf wraps is really nice as well. But I agree the toe ties are awful and should just go to velcro haha. I appreciate you mentioning that on Facebook and thank you for the kind words in regards to my videos :) If you want a flat face, don't be scared off of the SLR2! You can also take a look at the Vaughn PVE pad that has SLR2 strapping but is a Velocity pad with a flat face.

My son had CCM Eflex 4.5 pads and recently switched to Vaughn V9. The sliding speed of the Vaughn is amazing. Will not return to CCM. Their "speedskin" is terrible. To be more accurate, CCM should name this covering "mudskin".
@HockeyReviews
@HockeyReviews 3 жыл бұрын
I do want to make note of the fact that your son also upgrade from a lower tier pad to a higher tier pad. BUT Speedskin is the same and slides terribly compared to the competition! Hopefully more people realize I was telling the truth when it was on street hockey gear before the ice hockey stuff 😂

Keep in mind these will be CONSIDERABLY softer than Eflex pads. The core of these is really soft compared to the CCM. But they will slide amazingly!

Great tendie gear reviews! I've been watching your reviews for that past week as my daughter is in need of new pads. She's been in Vaughns for the past few years and is just coming out of the VE8 in 26+2. We reached out to most of the manufacturers to see what they would recommend for her. So far Vaughn recommended the V9, Warrior sent a sizing chart. And CCM was really nice watched her youtube video and recommended the E Flex 5.5 for her style. I would really value your opinion on what we should look at. Thx!
@HockeyReviews
@HockeyReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, for people her size the biggest thing is trying them on and seeing which one she likes more. Some kids have a harder time moving to a bigger pads of a certain brand compared to another. If she likes the Vaughn, it is a good starting point as the V9 will be an upgrade with better sliding, but going to a bigger size might be too uncomfortable for her. Personally I am not impressed with the quality of the lower end CCM gear (5.5 for example) and the materials the competitors use is simply better.

I just got these pads and it amazes me. I must not have bought new pads in years, but when did leather straps become obsolete in place of velcro? Aren't traditional straps better?
@HockeyReviews
@HockeyReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Probably about 6 yearsish ago most of the leather straps have been coming off. It is a personal preference thing but the elastic helps by being stretchy and helps pulling the pad back into place and putting less strain on your hips, knees, and ankles.

@@HockeyReviews Very interesting. I always thought more velcro made things worse, but I guess that's how I felt early on with it's adoption. I thought it was cheap. But after seeing literally no pads with proper straps anymore I guess that's the way of the future and I am a dinosaur. I'm excited to step onto the ice for the first time. I just bought these after have second hand V6's for years. I love the feel of them for how similar they really are. It's the type of pad I love apparently. I hope they work as good as they feel and cost! Now to wrap my head around the bungie cord I gotta clip to my skate. What a learning curve. I suppose the springiness of bungie will help grant you more flexibility with control.

Hi, I'm going to order v9 pads & i will do this for my first time in costume. I have some questions, it would be nice if you can help me 😁 do you know the difference between the stock logo & the pro logo? Can I order 2 leather straps at my calf plus the main elastice strap (stock) between them? Which toe bar do you prefer? Thanks a lot
@HockeyReviews
@HockeyReviews 2 жыл бұрын
Pro logos limit the amount of logos that are on the pad. The NHL dictates that only a certain number of branding can be on the gear. So for the NHL they take off the boot branding for the V9 line. You can see how they look when looking at Rask's pads here: media.gettyimages.com/photos/tuukka-rask-of-the-boston-bruins-in-the-net-against-the-carolina-at-picture-id1365489862?s=2048x2048 media.gettyimages.com/photos/patrice-bergeron-of-the-boston-bruins-and-teammate-tuukka-rask-a-picture-id1364447192?s=2048x2048 You can add extra straps if you want. Just put it in the additional comments and ask them to reach out so you know exactly what you are getting. I like the bungie toe ties, but I hate their stock clip system. So I would ask for bungie but without the clips.
