This helps me to understand the mechanism. I'm still searching for a practical demonstration of benzamide to aniline synthesis. I had a go the other day and I was adding the bromine last, I think I heated it too much and added too much br2. This time I'm considering making up a potassium hypobromite solution first from either br2 and koh or koh and bromine water and then adding my solution of benzamide. I have no understanding of the stociometry needed for this or the order and method of preparation Do you have any advice? Thanks Tom
