Hoggies seem to have a large following with women for some reason.........even those ladies who don't like snakes seem to bend the rules when one of 'Pissy's' relatives are involved. I'm referring to Exotic Lair's famous Hoggie, drama queen extraordinaire

Pierce Hawke I love hognoses and several species of colubrid. Black tailed cribo is one of my other favorites, hognoses are adorable but they are also easy to house with their size. I don’t feel the need to prove what a big man I am by owning large aggressive species so maybe that is something to do with it LOL. I currently own western hognoses and a Mexican black king snake, I hope to add a cribo or false water cobra in the future.

I wonder if it's because they are umderstimulated in there? I only have a couple of hognoses but they are my most active snakes and thet really seem to like exploring their enclosures.
@imaniwilliams8165 жыл бұрын
It seems like they're hungry. When the guy picked up the one hognose, it immediately tried to eat him. If it were a defensive bite, it would've flattened itself and hissed but it didn't so that makes me think it was a feeding response. Like one of the other commenters said, it's most likely feeding day or close to it.

I know I’ve watched this video a half dozen times over the last year and every time I watch it I get another breeding project idea. I own 3 hogs from Jeff and the 4th will arrive in 3 days. He breeds some beautiful, healthy animals and has answered every one of the many questions I’ve had over the last year. Super nice guy. Definitely recommend JMG if you’re thinking about owning a hognose. I’m pretty sure he’s got more hognose listed on morphmarket than any other breeder. He’s bound to have what you’re looking for. Love the video Dav, keep em coming! I’d love for you to visit Eslin’s operation down in Fla. He also has some absolute gorgeous hognose.

Not a single comment mentioning how those tubs are way too small, and there's nothing in them but a water bowl. Some barely have any substrate for snakes that are burrowers by nature. Nice that he's "making" morphs, but he is not keeping them in good conditions. Also, hognoses are unlikely to bite when handled, so clearly only interaction they get is when being fed

large enclosure will make the snake feel unsafe and stress them out. that is a good enclosure for them. they can stretch their body and still feel secure.

No it isn't and just a lie from breeders, these are wild animals, how do they survive in the wild if they need a tiny box to live in. They could live in a whole room, you just need to put in enough places for them to hide in which this guy clearly has not bothered to do.

I'm not against tubs in general but this is gross as hell. Poor things are in enclosures the size of deli cups with zero enrichment. Colubrids are way too active and intelligent for this type of "husbandry", if you wanna call it that. Animal breeders in general kinda suck but snake breeders seriously take their shittiness to a whole different level.
