Thanks again for your take! Do wish it was magnacut or m390 at the price point, but it could be because they share profits with HK
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
I like 154CM but at $300, I think M390 or MagnaCut would be great. M390 in particular isn’t as expensive as many would think. I also think a slightly wider blade would look great. You’re probably right about profit sharing though!
@ShinyFallingStar9 ай бұрын
@@GigiEDC M390 not super expensive, but a well heat treated one is. Also depends on the finish. Wider blade with be sick. But HK always had the "customers want something but they don't actually need it" mentality. If they can get away with not updating something they will
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
@@ShinyFallingStar very good point! The heat treatment can absolutely add significant cost. As for their philosophy - it sounds a like how Benchmade views their customers. Take care!

Actually I do have a question. Make the algorithm happy. Have you had any of the Vespas with the serrations? Like the scarab with the dagger blade that has the serrations all along one side? Have a serrated cold steel and a spyderco that i find kinda useful but man the dagger like that looks great Thanks
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment and support! It really means a lot! As for your question, I personally have not but I will be ordering one here soon. I’m looking to get the Vespa Scarab that’s serrated on one side. From what I’ve seen, their serrations look great. I’ll order the 154CM because it’s a little cheaper than the M390. If I’m honest - the partial serration is absolutely the way to go from a utilitarian stance. I’m like you though, a clean dagger just looks so good.
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
Oh! And if you want to go for a single edge Vespa, they do make a scarab that’s completely serrated. It looks much better than a s/e or d/e partial serration in my eyes.

Tisztelettel kérdezem: minősègben látsz-e különbbsèget a Microtech Scarab 2 gen3,/ madein U.S.A/ és a Microtech Scarab vespa között? Mi a véleményed? Üdvözlettel : Georg
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
@@gyorgyvigh2068Hello my friend! Thank you for your comment. Between a USA Microtech and a Chinese Vespa, there are no noticeable differences in quality for the Scarab. However, I do not believe they make the Gen III Scarab at this time. I have a video on the Vespa Scarab Gen II if you’d like to look at it. In my opinion, the Vespa Scarab M390 version is _higher_ quality than the genuine Microtech. This isn’t the case with every Vespa vs. Microtech comparison. The Vespa’s blade play is certainly less and the blade steel is very good. For the Combat Troodon, the blade play is less on the Vespa version but the blade dimensions are better on the genuine Microtech. I’m a big fan of Vespas and Microtechs - if you have any more questions please ask. Also - between the Vespa Scarab II and the Microtech Scarab III, the Microtech will be easier to deploy but the Vespa isn’t hard.

@@GigiEDC I learn a lot from your content man, I kid you not last Saturday I was looking for a look at the inside of a full size incursion and low and behold you made that happen. We have the same taste in knives no doubt. I use heat shrink for all my springs, it's works as good as grease with the twang but more importantly on a heavy user edc it keeps the springs from wearing on the carrier.
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
@@Elmax17.5dpsI love to hear that! Comments like this make me want to keep reviewing more knives, seriously. Your support means a lot. As for the shrink wrap, that’s a really good idea and I’m going to look into it. It’s a much, much cleaner solution than lithium grease.

Very nice I have a hogue compound I wonder if it is similar to this in terms of quality? I'd like to see a guardian tactical recon 040 or Kershaw livewire comparison. What do you think is the best otf so far in terms of reliability and ease of use?
@GigiEDC9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I just went and searched for the Compound online and I can say that it’s likely the same. Every one that I saw has the same basic internals as the Incursion. I’d also like to compare the Livewire and Recon 040, those are actually the next two OTFs I’m going to buy. From what I’ve seen, both seem to be on par with MT in terms of quality - if not a step above. As far as reliability is concerned, I’d say a later model Combat Troodon Gen III (models made in 12/23,1/24 have too much slop from my experience) is worth looking at. The Gen II CT is good but it does require a bit of force to actuate. Overall, I’d heavily consider the Kershaw Livewire (used but currently don’t own) as well due to the ease of deployment, reliability and price point. I personally carry a Vespa Scarab M390 currently because of its low cost and high quality - I don’t worry about beating it up. I’d be cautious with any new Benchmade polymer OTFs as well if you need reliability. I hope this is helpful!
