Yes! I enjoyed this game but it would be fun if it had a morality system similar to Fable which affects what skills you can learn, the story path and house points. It was a missing key detail A more hands on approach to Potions making would be fun too, at least in the classroom. I know it would be annoying to have to do all that every time you want a potion. A lot of things were simplified

Avada Kedavra is the reason you had so many 3+ mob fights. Hard to make boss fights interesting when you can just OTK them. Hard to balance out AK in the game while still staying true to what it is supposed to do.

Being something of a masochist, my 1st playthrough was without any dark magic, but it wasn't noticeably harder than my 2nd playthrough with. Concentration III and fully upgraded gear make stupefy and the dmg spells one-shot most enemies.

Pretty much agree with the rating. It really is an enjoyable game and I do like it. It has flaws but I liked it in general. My biggest gripe was the lack of consequences. You could be a jerk and delve into dark magic, break into people's homes to steal shit and they don't enforce curfew or restricted areas in anyway beyond a quest or 2. You can do all that but still be 100% good.

Or not being able to zoom out your character so you're kinda forced to stiick close and turn the camera around a lot. I put the field of view setting +10 because the turning around constantly made me motion sick lol. Or beginning of the game, when you had to do 1 lumos or 1 reparo, instead of just going to the spell selection window, you couldnt press to use iti once, you HAD to drag it in your spell bar, use it, then remove it again. And yeah noticed not as much RPG. You were kinda forced to so yes to helping everyone or else you wouldnt do the sidequest and miss out on shit. And the choice was always YES or BIG BAD EVIL NO. Too black/white and no moral grey zone

Here's something that bothered me now that I've beaten the game. I went back on Twitter and saw folks still posting the same copy paste spoilers of "professor fig dies in all possible endings and that rookwood is the one who cursed anne" like it was some kind of ultimate gotcha and now I get to ask... How in the hell is "Rookwood is the one who cursed Anne" a spoiler? What does that spoil? What does knowing that change? One person said "Well Sebastian thought it was the Goblins" and I'm like, oh well I guess goblins aren't bad guys after all *oh wait* they're still the loyalists, they're still the enemies. So we're still going to be killing said goblins regardless. And even then it goes "Goblins did it!" "No they didn't" "Oh for real. Alright." And then it's like... Oh no shit Rookwood was the one who did it, who else could it have been? "Children are better seen, not heard." Okay let's list our suspects. Ranrok, the Goblin who doesn't use curses and is busy elsewhere The poacher dude whose name I forgot who wasn't even in the story Or the dude named Rookwood, near a place called Rookwood Castle, and wears a top hat and evil mustache who has been established to do a lot of evil person type things.. Hmmm... a real stumper

The reason Rookwood (a human) being the one that cursed Anne is impactful is that Sebastian thinking it was a goblin was the source of his unjustified species hatred towards ALL goblins, not just the loyalists, not all goblins were allied with Ranrok remember (you can even hear this talked about in-game by the loyalists themselves). This is illustrated by his treatment of your dealings with Lodgok.

@@notan3144I did not like how the Sebastian questline played out in the end. It was the most interesting one, but I think it's a little bit like the ending of Game of Thrones. I knew he was slipping in the dark arts, but I expected him to change and progress more before going full retard and murdering his uncle. Why did he do it? He could have done literally anything else. He just ruined his life and any chance that his sister might have had for recovery. Also, Solomon was so stuborn and obtuse that it was bordering parody. I think it was clear he had to be on the bad end of some curse, but just randomly AK-ing him made no sense.

OP has a point tho. While all the items were good and work great rarely had to use them on hard mode if skilled enough at QTE’s or doin 16-18k diffindo and ancient magic bursts. 1 skill point in wiggenweld healing made it rare to need a lot either only needed 8 for final boss. Basically the tools you have make the game much easier and work great but if ya want a challenge you can just not use them either

It is funny the difference between protego and dodging. As a Dark Souls/Elden Ring player I tend to dodge so much more because it is more efficient than bouncing back with protego.

Yeah but protego is proactive to keep the fight going. Your in the middle of casting a spell and building your combos you deflect, and stupify the enemy, guess what you keep fighting uninterrupted. I think gamers are being stubborn when they refuse a mechanic that’s meant to keep the excitement and momentum of the gameplay fluid.

There’s so many things good about this game, I loved it. The only real problem I had with it was how short the main story was. For how HUGE the open world is I was so surprised that so many places weren’t even visited for the main story. When I see a game with no multiplayer I think okay so the story must be CRAZY. The only problem I have with this game is Rockwood's and Ranrok's endings are treated like nothing. They just die, and that's it. The game fails at making them memorable. They're the main villains, but they're treated like another quest with a boss you beat and then complete. Professor Fig is not memorable and so bland that when he dies, I'm like, "👋." The ending was weak.

As a big HP fan - this game is so over hyped it drives me nuts. The combat is wonky, none of the choices you make ever matter not even the final one. The puzzles are terrible... The world they built is good, but it was handed to them on a silver platter they just made it come to life. The voice acting is great but the writing is average. Best part of the whole game is the opening act and roaming a bit in the castle, everything else is bland. Everyone was so hyped that I expected more out of this game, but it's just average. We got no real romance, very little friendship building (1 friend, really) and basically no schooling apart from very few cut-scenes.

This was a good game, but I was a little disappointed in the endings and the amount of meaningful questlines available. There are like 3 meaningful relationship quest between Natty, Sebastion and Poppy. There should have been more... like 3 per house or some shit because the world just feels empty otherwise as I never found a reason to go to the hamlet quest when all they really werent interesting story beats. Also beyond that the ending was kind of meh, I know they wanted people to play after the ending but I feel like we didnt really wrap up anything, that thing under Hogwarts is still there and I feel like the semester should wrap up with us leaving on the train. Maybe they are leaving it open for an expansion or 2nd game?

bakar killed isodora because she was going to kill his colleagues. They were not winning, and he did what was best for the rest of wizardkind. Alson, Avada kedavra should not be unforgivable. For sure, american wizards, shouldn't hate on it, it's much less deadly than guns. Plus, it is the most human killing spell. Somehow avada kedavra is unforgivalbe, but burning somebody alive with incendio isn't? Protego is way better than dodging. If you spec it, perfect protegos can absolutely destroy an antire group around you, and you can followup with stupify, which curses the target.

My BIGGEST gripes: bugs: the pop ins, colors and lighting issues, no laying or sitting down to pass time (we sit down in random areas to do that), not enough spells, the game starts off extremely slow to the point that I’m dreading my 2nd play through, picking a different house literally does nothing for the story, npcs don’t react to my spells or anything really (they do budge a lil), npcs in the common rooms and school disappear at night, no patrolling prefects at all unless its in a mission, npcs don’t have a schedule (they pop in places), npcs also don’t care if you break in their houses and steal items lmao. It’s obvious this game needed AT least 2 more years of development. And this list was just the top of the surface. With that being said i commend avalanche for their approach to this game and i know they had limitations themselves, its not their fault. I would’ve preferred them to team up with Bethesda for the npc issues and this would’ve bumped the game up to a 8

Well he is pretty old, and he did get bodied by a rock before you were separated and his fall down may not have been as forgiving as yours. Then he used all he had to protect you while you sealed the magic. It's still a shame though, i wish there was a 'mass effect' way to save him =(

Oof, this game is mid. But for a harry potter fan I can see why they would think this game is the 2nd coming of christ since the few Good harry potter games are lego harry potter 1-4, 5-7 ( 2010 & 2011 ) and prisoner of Azkaban ( 2004 ) so yeah the fan base was thirst in the gaming department. Honestly, I feel like hogwarts legacy would have been amazing if they had made it like kotor or dragon age style of rpg with heavy choices that affect the story, it would of made the game have crazy amounts of replay value.

I agree. My biggest problems with the game that make it a 7/10 instead of an 8 or 9 are the lack of consequences for most choices, the way the gear system works (oranges and purples, shouldn't drop as often as they do and should be meaningful outside of allowing a higher trait, and having a bit more of the main stat), and the combat is somewhat weak outside of combos. I can stealth most encounters easily or just dodge roll everything instead of using shield and counter. While I only played on normal, I never use anything outside of a healing potion or two, and often forget I have any other potions or plants to use. Replayability is lacking but I'm not a huge HP fan to begin with so maybe I'm just not seeing why people are praising it and calling it GOTY (my money is on TOTK). My last complaint is the chosen one trope used to make your character stand out above and be more powerful than everyone else.

I think this game will be much better in 6 months, modders have already fixed flying so it doesn't feel like complete ass on the PC, this is the same problem Skyrim had, games designed for consoles and ported to PC still have the inherent flaws of the console system, like limiting abilities use and having a janky spell swap system, it is the limitation of the controllers limited number of buttons. It is a massive compromisation/limitation if you pretty much only play games on PC. The lack of NPC types and basically the exact same combat from start to end made it feel a bit tedious, you eventually grow in power that everything in the game is a joke even on hard. I hit level 40 (max) and have 448 defence and 449 offense and every spell is Avada Kedavra, if I freeze and slice a troll it one shots it. I can just drop a cabbage and the cabbage will wipe the floor. I don't think the game was balanced beyond level 30, it seemed like they had to take some shortcuts to hit deadline. They put a lot of effort into doing cool things with mobs, like pulling a dunbog's tongue, hitting a troll with it's club or rock, etc but it becomes just a gimmick, they were cool early when you had limited spells and they were harder to kill, but it was wasted development time because you quickly got to a point you just killed things fast without needing to do combos. It was a fun game, I liked the story, but I feel for an open world type of game, it needed a lot more emphasis on boss encounters, put the development time into creating an open world random boss system where bosses would get random traits, etc and could provide a wide range of unique encounters which scaled with your level. The way it was done doesn't make me want to replay it again, because most of the content is tedious repetitive unlocking of things, so we got a very brief story with extremely limited variances. I think it fell very short in terms of the open-world elements. Again, a lot of development time must have gone into the Vivarium system for what was a very simplistic produce like a dozen components. Hogwarts Legacy is a cake with a lot of frosting but not much cake.

I think if we weren’t powerful enough people would complain. It’s best to be OP but then scale back if YOU want. Instead of limiting everyone for “Balance reasons.” I don’t use AK because it can be op, I stick to a certain combo and dodge around utilizing potions or plants at times. But someone else may not give a damn about potions and rather AK everything. So I don’t believe it’s a negative that your so strong. People WANT to feel strong in these games.

@@thelurker4773 Yeah, you can scale down from Normal to Easy or Story mode, I am saying the hardest setting is too easy and even imposing self-restrictions like not using plants or potions isn't enough even at the hardest difficulty level. It either needed an even harder setting or it needs to be better balanced. IMO there isn't enough depth to the game to overcome a fairly easy combat system. Low npc variety, predictable enemy behaviour and skills, if it had much depth to the game outside of combat then that would be easier to wear but most of what the game offers revolves around combat.

Asmongold said we fight Goblins at the start and we fight Goblins at the end. He did pause while saying that because he realized he was wrong about this claim, but went with it anyways. At the beginning of the game, your first enemy type were the sentinels. Ranrok was jus introduced but we didn’t personally fight him. At the end of the game you fight and kill a Dragon, so yeah. It’s not like we only fought one enemy from start to finish.

If you meant the house cup it's just the "true ending" But for me it's just the end, end. You get when u hit LV 34, when u are not LV 34 you can't take that quest so there is no way of missing it other than stop playing. So it's basically only a secret for people who did the Main Quest only and that's it. (Because you don't have enough LV then)

4/10 for me , just 100% it. Asmon mentions all these cons but still somehow rates it 8.5/10 putting it up there with elden ring , god of war and witcher 3. The game is literally like any other ubisoft generic open world rpg , with great atmosphere and wizarding world art and graphics. But atleast in those generic world rpg games you have more depth in the itemisation,gearing,skill tree and rpg mechanics.PROs - great soundtrack and atmosphere CONs - Generic rpg systems (dialogue,combat,skill tree,itemisation,levelling) - Generic exploration systems outside of its art and graphics - Generic main quest (good vs evil) - Generic side quests (kill stuff, deliver stuff, pick up stuff) -Generic mind numbing activities/collectables/puzzles -game breaking bugs like file save corruption (i had this at 46 hours , had to spend 3 hours working on a work around)

Nah you're tripping Valhalla is easily a 4/10 to a 6/10 this is easily better than that, this has the exact same problems as Witcher 3 and gow, they both have empty vase worlds with puzzles and quest that are tedious at best, name one other npc in gow that isn't the dwarfes? You can't because there isn't any. So yeah It is on the same lvl as gow and Witcher and leagues better than anything ubisoft has done in years.

@angeloftheuchiha.4810 I can name numerous npcs and variety from witcher 3 , I can vividly remember 80% of the side quests no matter how small , I can remember the whole story of god of war and how it wasn't just a good vs evil story line , I remember both of their rpg elements, the need to gear up , making builds , interesting leveling etc. Many people replay witcher 3 for example many times over because choice and dialogue matter , there's many different character builds to try. The truth us only a very small subset of hard-core fans will play hogwarts again because its largely a one and done experience , in essence, forgettable. None of that is present in hogwarts legacy

AK just should get a intense Quicktime battle with the enemy wizard u try to kill. Not that stupid 1 button mashing more like the system how u learn that spell with direction and button pressing. if u fuck it up the enemy wizard deflect it and stuns you or similiar stuff. if u get it correct (difficulty based on game difficulty) enemy dies. big mobs like a troll or acramantula auto deflect it by a stone/club so u need to fight this bad guys correctly instead of AK them into obilvion with all the other cursed ones.

I will say overall compared to most new games I only came across 2 bugs one of which where I was knocked into a river teleported out and was swimming in the air and I got trapped in a house caus an animal layed in th door preventing the flu powder teleport and I couldn't walk though the door because of said animal

Just finished at 60 hours, also finished at lvl 36 with 89 percent on the field guide done or whatever. I explored ALOT and did every side quest I could before doing the next MQ. I highly recommend this if you want a longer experience. I say a solid 9, i get the enemy variety problem but I was fine with it. idk of the top of my head what other enemies there could have been.

I was looking at the enemies in the collection and there is 69(Giggity) Enemies in the game. That’s well over enough compared to what we see in other games today, hell even more over GOW. So the mob variation is kinda wrong on Asmon part.

The ending fell off but the story was still good. Watching Asmon he was very suprised and captured by the story beats. Not usually easy to do.

Sure your presented with the threat of Goblins at the beginning, well no shit, they’re the antagonist of the over arching story. Gotta set them up. But the first enemy type you actually battle were the knights of your first trial. So he’s wrong there. And then not to mention at the end of the game you fight a fucking DRAGON! At the end.
