I think the easiest way to remember what animal belongs to what number is key focus on the number of horns/ligaments it has. Two out of the 9 is more the shape of the animal in comparison to its respective number (4 and 7)

So each beast represents a number starting from the left side (0-9). The way you solve the puzzle is to add up the total of the given numbers and subtract that number from the number in the middle of the triangle. You should get a number that would represent one of the beasts. You then change the symbol on the wall to match whatever number you got after doing the subtraction.

Been stuck on this for a year but I’ve had to look at this . As I’ve completed the game apart form these and few side quests. And the Demiguise statues . Hate looking how to do it but a years to long lol. The video says it’s just math I’m crap at math and have dyslexia and adhd. I’d never of solved this after watching the video on my own trying. I never got the number sheet, but I did all the doors still. Thats because I knew what a Demiguise (0) and a Runespoor (3) were; it pained me to hear you call the Demiguise a sloth. The Unicorn, Quintaped, and Acromantula were obvious references to the numbers 1, 5, and 8 as well. For reference, the order is Demiguise, Unicorn, Graphorn, Runespoor, Fwooper, Quintaped, Salamander, Giant Squid, Acromantula, and Hydra, and each has a recognizable connection to their number if you know a bit of lore.

great visual help to identify the Harry Potter's Ancient Runes of the Runic Alphabet with one look: 0: Demiguise invisibility represents zero... (but just look at it, one fat Zero.) 1: Unicorn's One (single) horn 2: Graphorn's Two (dual) horns. 3: Runespoor the snake has Three heads (Triple-headed). 4: Fwooper the bird has 4 feather colour: orange, pink, lime green and yellow. (Or if you think it looks like an owl owls has 4 fingers on their legs.) 5: Quintaped is a 5 legged hairy beast. 6: Salamanders can survive 6 hours out of fire. (Or just imagine a six legged lizard.) (For one point to your house answer the question: how many hours can 4 salamanders survive out of fire?) 7: The Unknown represents seven... (I mean just imagine an octopus with 7 legs. Maybe a pirate octopus with one wodden peg, and an eye-patch) 8: This is easy... is it? yes spiders got 8 legs, but the rune actually references Acromantula, which has 8 eyes. O.o.O.o.O.o.O.o 9: Hydra with 9 heads. (Just don't cut off any, then it will be 8... or 10... or whatever, don't cut their heads off, makes counting much harder.. ) And repeating the math: 1st door 01:09 top: 2+3+?= 9, so ? must be 4, the owl looking fwooper. bottom 0+1+??=4, so ??=3, the 3 headed Runespoor snake

Huh..That's very clever to hide some puzzles for secret doors on the floors just below the one they're on. Nice touch. It makes the puzzles more challenging without making the puzzle more complex. Like turning it to division, multiplication, or worse into a algebraic equation. It would make someone into a math/puzzle master...Or put them in a straight jacket thinking they've been banned to Azkaband.

I was sorted into Ravenclaw for a reason, I actually had this figured out on my own, it honestly reminded me of a certain process I had seen before. With the numbers in a triangle having to be added together on each side to equal the number on the corresponding side. But I loved this puzzle, it was such an interesting and fun experience to be added into this amazing game.

I'm playing through the game trying to do everything including solving the puzzles first without looking them up. How I opened them wasn't the intended way, but it was still a brilliant solution. Since the ??s were typically farther away, I would choose the first, then go back and change each ? until the door opened, and repeat. I still consider myself a fitting Ravenclaw. I don't think I ever saw the diagram. I figured there would've been a quest like the butterfly paintings.

So that's how they work. I couldn't figure out on my own. And at the first puzzle door where you were, I was also there but didn't saw that crate with the animal combo.
