HoI4 Guide - Carlist Spain: Victory by 1938! - La Résistance

A guide for HoI4 la resistance as Carlist Spain.
Following the steps laid out in this guide will allow you to restore the Spanish Monarchy and set yourself up for an interesting game by 1938!
Due to a technical issue around 16:40, part of the guide is missing regarding the prepare Carlist Cells decisions. You are to prepare a cell in Easter Aragon, Western Aragon and Valladolid, to establish a solid powerbase. Burgos and Navarra will be Carlist by default due to the focus.

Oh man, good catch. Yes! This is where i emphasise the areas where you plant your carlist cells! Very Important! Place a cell in eastern and western Aragon and one In Valladolid. You only have time for 3,and combined with the focus that guarantees you ownership of Burgos and Navarra, these 3 areas give you a good, sollid powerbase!

An absolute stellar guide even with the newest update not one step back. Was able to use these techniques as well as a few speed running tweaks and I was able to beat this at a huge micromanage at x2 and x3 speed only and had fully conqured Spain as the Carlists with Ironman and achievements by March 1937. Wonderful content, I have been struggling only with the Carlist for a long time partly because I didn't look as deep into the mechanics like you did. Swell video man, very well put together 10/10.

Yeah,the volunteers are the worst! Try to avoid fighting them straight up. Instead, let their tanks punch through and then encircle them

Be careful.I believe that you need a good level of microgestions for this war because you have to choose with head and not moving the troops only for dying.A tip is that if you move a division where there is an uncovered flank,assure that position sending another division into the position you left and other division attacking the one you want to enciercle because it can't support the others division.I tried like that and by January 1938 I had all Spain under my control as a carlist.

The key really is timing and slowing the game down so you can micro manage your army. Encircle and bypass troops to get the upper hand

@@Bitt3rSteel Ive tried this about 20 times, for 3 hours, did the same yesterday with your balkan union tutorial, they're just not possible no matter how many times I try the AI always seems to have the upper hand and RNG always seems to fuck me, its gotten to the point where I honestly wanna uninstall the grind for these achievements isnt fun anymore.

At first I thought it would be pretty difficult, since I saw many people saying that they had problems, but surprisingly I managed to win against Anarchists, Falangists and Republicains by 1938 beginners luck haha, I had some difficulties here and there, but overall a pretty nice challenge for anyone who wants a tougher game:)

It is possible to win as the Carlists before the crackdown. (This is without using feedbackgaming's strategy/exploit.) It involves naval invasions.

​@@Bitt3rSteel Well, I started off coring Extremadura and Seville. This provides two sides to attack Madrid from, plus a port in the south, which is also important, although those in N. Africa might work. The advantage, I suppose, of Cadiz, is that it is territory contiguous with most of the rest of nat'list territory. I started, I think, with an offensive to take Madrid, while/after mopping up Pais Vasco and Asturias in the north. After Madrid and Toledo are seized, some naval invasions from Seville can take Malaga, Valencia, or Barcelona, if Republican troops are not present. Just a single division per invasion is sufficient because the goal is just to get the victory points of these ports and cause the republic to capitulate, and it shouldn't be too far from that once you get Madrid and Toledo--these naval invasions should do it, I think. Some of the ports with fewer victory points could also be targeted.I then had to capitulate the Anarchists, but with my whole nat'list army, that wasn't too hard, leaving me with only a few days until the crackdown, but a Carlist victory without the four-way civil war mess. (This is all only as reliable as my memory.)

yo this actually works, i didnt do it in time so the the second civil war fired at the exact hour spain capitulated, but i managed to encircle a lot of nat forces so they didnt have enough to hold the line anymore so i won about 2 months later. War ended 22. September 1937, waaaaay better than 1942 which is what i got last time

Yup,those are the biggest threat. Try to encircle them instead of going toe to toe

Some tips for players looking for more help on this achivement: Don't take "No Compromise on Carlinist Ideals" because you only get +atk/def for 60 days vs the nationalist, but you can skip it and get it for 'free' without spending time on it. Also if you do not take it you got enough time to make 3 states switch to Carlinist instead of only 2. On this note you can also wait with "Contact the Union Militar Espanola" until right before the uprising so you get the bonus from the other options first as Unite the Requetes is a much better investment as fast as possible, "Prepare Carlinist Insurrection" is still 1st priority though to get 3 states. You can take parts of the south then when the Carlinist rise up and kick the Nationalists out of the North, they will continue the fight down south against both you and the republicans, making it a 3 and even 4 front war, taking some heat off of your own troops. I only produce guns and Civilian factories (Emergency Factory Conversion is your friend) until the Carlinist rise up, this is because the Nationalists get supplied by the Axis, the Republicans by the Russians but the Carlinist by no one... So it's easier to get a good army only using guns and will power =)

The giant menace in almost all cases are the democrats. I recommend doing 'unite the requetes' then ' the war in the north' then go to 'contact the union militar espanola'. You should have your carlist units spawn in galicia, as the front is empty at the start of your insurrection against the nationalists. Another trick is not to attack the defense council of aragon, because they oppose the democrats the longest. All and all, if you do these things you start your insurrection, walk into the majority of the nationalist territory, connect your front with the galician one, then the nationalists capitulate (their frontline is giant because they have to fill the one but you butttt also the one with the democrats and anarchists, which leaves gaps), then you kill the democrats while they battle a large defense council and you let that portion of the front rest.

Try to avoid fighting those toe to toe. If one of them pushes,let it. Then close around it from behind and let it sit and starve. Or use your Afrika divisions to counter them,as those are your only real troops.

I tried the Carlists before and i killed the fascists relatively easy but then I did a horrible mistake: I killed the Anarchists first. I already had the upper 65% of Spain and only the Republicans left now. Thought this would be easy but i suddenly had no guns anymore and the damned Soviets gave them an unlimited supply and the Republicans endlessly attacked me and I couldn't produce weapons fast enough to replace the losses even with a full focus on Equipment. It turned into a horrible meat grinder stalemate and I tried so hard but couldn't do anything anymore...
