With South American DLC I got the same dissapointment. "Spirit of the Conquerors" as if Chile and Argentina were the same to Spain. Specially for a fascist path, which are the most "patrotic".

That tells us 1)how many... how few people play Norway; 2)AI doesn't know about their own features. And considering AI was designed for vanilla, mechanics of which are mostly extinct, it's a miracle it still functions at all. Though it not interacting with supply depots and railways may be a sign that it has growth trouble😅

I would guess that Paradox tried to update them for the new supply system, but the AI just kept doing stupid things. I could imagine that the AI would spam useless railroads and supply hubs everywhere instead of building factories. The supply system is fairly well designed to be able to ignore it, you could play the game just fine and never build or upgrade a railway or mess with the supply hubs. It was probably a choice between leaving the AI alone, having it be stupid, or a complete ground up redesign of the AI (not going to happen for a 7 year old game, that would take way too much time and money).

AI is the reason I dont play this game. Last time I played as siam, the british decided to move all its army to british raj and as a result it got annexed by germany. I feelt like I wasted several hours for nothing.

The AI does build railroads to supply hubs if they are unconnected. I don't know if they upgrade railroads though.

Thank you! I have been struggling with this path for so long now. I have waited for this expansion pack for Norway for almost 10 years and I have played all the paths. I really like the communist paths, and the democtratic ones are HARD. I am still struggling to even unite Scandinavia. Some things I picked up: -Hire the manpower advisor as soon as you have the pp. I mean right at the beginning. Since u are going "democratic" anyway he will not disappear, and you will enjoy 15000-30000+ extra manpower after 2-4 years. When it comes to garrisoning sweden before coring this is huge. -In all other paths you get to remove "obsolete forces" quite early through decisions or revolutions, but in this path it seems that you can only do the army focus and it takes way to much time. It doesnt make any sense since the very gig of the alt demo path is armed preparedness and strength, yet the army is obsolete for years of war until you can finally do the focus. Alot more of them should be 35 days or the preparedness / development / revolution decisions should be heavily reworked or just changed to a very simple and rewarding balance of power system like in literally every other content nation.

They fixed it, the decision now refers to preparedness and has an alternative, much easier to fulfill condition, being at war for at least 3 months (a reasonable time to acquire real army experience). Not sure when they did it. Hope you found out on your own, if not now you know.

It is the short version of the word 'Fanden', which in Christian times was used for the Devil, but in pre-Christian times was used for an enemy. The word is related to the english word 'Fiend'. (same root word in Indo-European)

In what way? All the Nordics have their problems, with Norway and Finland being at the end of centuries of outsider rule, and between the two of them Norway hasn't been on the frontline of all of Sweden's and Russia's many wars and doesn't have a strong martial tradition. That and the hard thirties were hard I heard. If you're talking about the focus tree, then the Norwegian one is nice with multiple paths for Democratic, Communist and Fascist runs.

@@Jo-Heike The option to remove the massive army debuff isn't available once you go to war, so if you don't complete the focus and political options before then you're stuck with until the end of the game. It makes no sense to work like that.

@@MarkGFL They fixed that. You don't have to get 15 preparedness to Modernize your army, you can take the decision after having been at war for 3 months. Getting to 15 preparedness during peace is still an option, but not the only way anymore.

They fixed it. You can now modernize the army if you have been at war for 3 months, as well as if you have the patience to gather 15 preparedness.

Does the preparing go away still, stopping you from developing further? Or can you actually go up to the 15 preparedness even towards the end finally?

@@overjee No Preparing for WAR still mostly go away once you have gone to War. You still have the option to use your preparedness for Economic Relief Measures, as well as deploying your preparedness while your actually at war for production bonuses, training time reductions, defense or offense bonuses. What changed is that you don't have to get 15 preparedness to modernize the army anymore, it's an option but you can also just spend 3 months at war, and then modernize the army without having 15 preparedness, you just need 200 convoys, and 60 cp, so you can take the decision twice and then it's gone for ever. So either you prepare, and go into conflict with a modern army, or you can get into some early war(s) (for example with Denmark and Sweden) where you Modernize the army during said war(s).

It may sound weird, but if your plan is to snake to VPs with cavalry, you have a huge front and you outnumber the enemy divisions, then I'd suggest putting your cavalry on cautious to prevent them attacking enemy divisions and then just giving them a garrison order on enemy territory with focus on VPs. Instrad of giving them manual order to move. Micro is always better, but you can't do it all the time.

There's a very good path as the Yale Rectorate in Equestria at War. It's about resurrecting one of the most important figures in Griffonian History. It's in my opinion one of the best paths in the mod! Go down the supremacust tree and do Project Auferstehung and you shall see a very important figure from Griffonian history! By the way whether The Griffonian Empire goes with a certain fellow by the name of Dawnclaw or not decides how the focus tree ends and who controls the nation. So whichever way you want it to end, you should decide if the Empire should go with him or not in the game rules. If you want one, more than the other! I wish you good luck in reconquering the whole continent as it should have been many centuries ago!

I'd like to mention that from Squash Dissent you get a *political advisor* who gives you the equivalent army experience of an expert army chief. You can stack that XP gain, which is kind of wild.

I think you misunderstand, Jonas Lie is both a political adviser and a Chief of Army option, but he only grants army experience when employed as the Chief of the Army (only possible as fascist), so it's not possible to stack the army exp.

It was a bit more complicated than that, and in fact military forces were deployed quietly on both sides of the border. However, due to the massive public support for independence, Sweden conceded in fear of being ousted by the international community. For what it's worth, the (non-Soviet) communist path seems to be broken too: once you switch you have no access to an army chief of staff, so you can't generate army XP.

You can always use the Professional Officer Corps Spirt of the Army, and/or grind some experience the old fashion way (by sending volunteers, etc). You are also able to level Jacob Hviden Haug to skill level 4 and promote him to a field marshal so that you can give him an officer corps role.

A very simple change would all it take for paradox to fix this decision, one idea being that as norway if you win a war and you are at peace you simple bypass the 15 developent and only have to pay the 100 convoys. another idea is if you are still alive by say 1940 making it so that if your in a eternal war your not stuck with shit units for the whole game.

Japan was not known for their great tanks back then, although they did have them, and used them in small numbers (as far as I remember). Americans had their iconic tanks, but again amphibious landings are not best suited to tanks. Germany, France, UK and USSR were all known for their tanks, although Germany and USSR had the most notable tank battles of the war. I am sure if you google correctly, or search on youtube you'll find some answers. There's several KZbinrs that talk a lot about armored warfare.

As Norwegian Ive played Norway a lot, and honestly If you want my advice on it. Just focus heavily on internal development first and formost as Norway even as alternative democratic path. Than join the allies and than attack Denmark and Sweden. But generaly most powerful paths for Norway militarily is the monarchist path (which gives you nice buffs for army and population) or industry in case of the historical democratic democratic path. Of course historical path means less actual expansion but its very fun to play as a challenge when the nazis attacks you

I was dissapointed with how broken it was as I was very excited. My family was involved in the war is several ways (though probably not in any signifigant way) and hoped to see some history like milorg, the norwegian fleet and the children of nazi soldiers. Tbf, im not good at the game which made it even more difficult at some points too.

I love playing sweden because you can just go fascist or monarch and ask denmark finland and norway if they want to become a puppet and if you just have diplomatic pressure and improv relations they just say yes and then you can just integrate them so you could form "det stornordiska riket" or "nordic unity" so it is pretty easy to integrate them as sweden🙂
