Fun fact: even though the name Second Brazilian Republic does appears in history books, it isn't used by the brazilians much, as the name given in history classes to Brazil before 1937 is either Oligarchal Republic or Old Republic, the official name of the country however was United States of Brazil. So I think Paradox looked at these three names and picked the fourth way less used one just because Oligarchal Republic of Brazil is a dumb name, Old Republic is Star Wars and United States of Brazil was too close to United States of America. The question is why not just, you now, Brazil? It's not like they call France in the game French Third Republic.

I've put submarine fleets with one submarine each on convoy raiding and never retreat, and sometimes I get lucky and sink destroyers, cruisers and heavy ships in naval battles that last for months, even over a year. Eventually the submarine gets sunk, but sinking battleships/carriers with 1 submarine is WORTH IT. Screens seem to become less effective over time... Also, you can tie down the enemy's entire fleet in a "battle" with one submarine for months, draining the enemy fuel supply. A 1944 submarine with snorkel is pretty much impossible to sink. Enemy also gets MASSIVE penalty for larger fleet.

it's kinda inconvenient i guess since you have to do it manually but if you do individual naval invasions with each unit, you can shorten the wait significantly, so instead of a 115 days for a single naval invasion, you do 20 naval invasions that happen to be under the same army, under the same general, same time frame that takes less than 7 days at most (becomes shorter with tech upgrades), the SAME PORT, that all happen to be separate but coinciding together. and no, this has been in the game since like waking the tiger at least, probably even earlier.
