@@jurepec5779 Metis with a capital 'M' are an indigenous culture comprised of the descendants that resulted from intermarriages between French fur trappers and First Nations women (mostly Cree or Ojibwe). With a lowercase 'm' its just a problematic old term from the colonial days that means "mixed" (like the word mestizo in Spanish).

Always interesting to see the other side of the story! I usually play Three Rivers, as they get long sprawling development trees of a zeppelin-backed air force and a navy to play around on the Great Lakes / down major rivers with. But truthfully, I think they’ll play better once more of the eastwards map is implemented around the Great Lakes.

The mathematics in hoi4 is hard. The strategic problem is absurd and the the game play ia difficult, dunno if its worth the grind when playing this game with mods or not but the enjoyment is there for you to recuperate the hardship you put to win the game.

or maybe you just havent figured out how to play, i find the game quite fun. it does have a steep learning curve what with all the dlc's now but take the time and maybe learn it but it isnt absurd, and the gameplay isnt difficult. but thats my opinion so idk

Anyone know why my OWB crashes so often? So I’ve wanted to do a good OWB play though for a while now, my friend also plays the mod on the same device as me. Unfortunately every time I’ve played(admittedly my playtime is a couple plays of MacArthur) the game seizes up after a random amount of time, maybe a bit more than an ingame year. The time stops running and while I can click stuff, nothing interacts and it’s pretty much a frozen game. The only thing I can do is save, quit the game and reload. I don’t really know what to do anymore, it’s not the version, since I’ve tried OWB over multiple, I’ve redownloaded the mod, cleared my save files and cache, redownloaded the game and verified my files. If anyone knows this issue I’d love some help. Thanks for listening to my ranting

To be fair... Speaking as a Canadian myself... IF they wanted to be more accurate to conscription laws in Canada, there would be something new and different that might be hard to code, but I don't think it'd be TOO hard. Essentially your "base" conscription law would be one that SEEMS like it would be less useful, but it's one that naturally fluctuares based on the political situation. If you're in an era of peace (aka, not at war) it would go down to a moderate/minimum number (So you'd want to focus on quality, not quantity), then if war is declared, the conscription % goes way up. Depending on the TYPE of war declared, it might go up a lot, or only a little. Specifically if YOU are the one declaring war, and it's a war of aggression or expansion, then it would only go up a moderate amount. But if you're in a defensive war? (Or called in by allies in a defensive war) it would go up a LOT! Essentially this would reflect the Canadian attitudes and proclivities when it comes to military service and wartime. We have NEVER had to conscript soldiers, because during any time of war, or heightened tension, we've ALWAYS had MORE than enough volunteers to be able to reinforce our armies (and other forces). I know it seems like a tiny quibble, but it really does change the feeling of the game, and situation, when you get pulled into a defensive war, and suddenly your manpower jumps to ungodly numbers, and you can train new recruits like no-body's business, to replace those on the front-lines, only for it to fall back after the war is done.

Uh no Canada has conscripted soldiers in both world wars. The WW1 Conscription Crisis and WW2 with the NRMA. Remember “Conscription if necessary but not necessarily conscription”was Mackenzie King trying to twist out of a problem that would flare in 1944 with heavy infantry losses. Manpower was a huge concern for Canadian military commanders in both world wars due to the fact that they depended on volunteers but became more and more acute as the wars went on as the volunteer pool shrank.

What Blsteen said plus the fact that in this mod you start with barely any population and offensive wars give you debuffs in war support/stability--> less production efficiency/lower recruitable pop factor. The mechanic is already there.
