What is he putting on at 14:48? Those are NOT the door hangers as he calls them. The door hanger holes that she hangs the doors in are on the outside of the freedom top accessory on the front. The bracket he puts on and calls door hangers are on the back side of the hoist pole

Make sure you watch the video several times before attempting construction. Be prepared for unlabeled parts and some differences, like 1/2 bolts/nuts when the instructions say 3/8 and 9/16 when instructions say 1/2, etc. This took me an afternoon to put together. There were a few times where it would be helpful to have a second person/set of hands. Pay attention to the cable in the hoist. Although the video cautions you to keep tension on the cables to "avoid birdnesting", the cables in my kit came from the factory "birdnested", resulting in difficulties when I took off my hardtop the first time. Its probably worthwhile to go buy the deep socket for your drill since the hand crank is incredible slow.

Hey patrick per you suggestions we've actually had the bolts labeled in specific packages thanks for your feedback

I have a 1979 CJ7 and the stance is much narrower than the 2007-2017 jeeps. I had used a metal saw blade on my miter saw to narrow the width to be able to fit in between my tires. The original width is about 50 inches. I had to narrow it to 38 inches on all three crossbars(about 6.75 inches on each side). Then I used a heavy duty metal drill bit to fit the bolts, using the cut bars holes as reference. It is perfectly balanced and works well. The only thing is the crank is geared so low that it takes a while to raise and lower. Also, for the rear hook to work with my top, I have to lower the crank enough to be able to spin the hook around since the hook can only enter reversed. Until I have cleared enough space in my garage and have room for a hydraulic lift, it will do just fine. Anybody that has used the drill method, could you please comment on my post?

Already tried this but comment disappeared. At 14:48 he installs something on the back side of the hoist pole and calls it the door hangers. Then the female hangs the doors on the other side of the freedom top accessory on the front side after the hardtop is on the cart. What are those brackets he puts on the hoist pole then? Ive bought both the cart and the freedom top accessory. Video confusing and conflicting with itself

Looks like door hanger for 4 doors. Nice setup, now I just need a Jeep. :-)

Looks awesome. What is the maximum roof height that this works for? (i.e. 2.5 inch lift on 35's, 4 inch lift on 37's). Also, does this safely work on JKU's?

I'm exhausted just from watching this. With a fully assembled cart, how long does it take to remove and store the top?
@LangeOriginals8 жыл бұрын
It takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
@robdc48298 жыл бұрын
They don't show you how much of a pain it can be to actually put the top back on. It does have to be aligned quite closely. They never show you how heavy the doors are either. Also, the 4-door top is larger.

Is there a reason this won't work on a jeep TJ?........ the JKU and TJ look similar dimensions wise ..... and what can I do to make it work with a TJ?

the rear hook isn't compatible with the tj

Hi guys, I just received my hoist last week from Quadratec , from the start the winch mechanism is not working properly , it's binding , because the two metal guide wheels on the winch is bent , and also the crimping piece of metal on the cable is so big that it drags on the edge of the housing . Is this something you guys can replace or do I have to email Quadratec ? Overall this thing is amazing , I absolutely am very happy with it , I got the door hangers also because it was a no brainer . Thank you !

Brilliant idea indeed. Just wondering how strong it is. As it appears extra care should be followed, i fear a single mistake might break some of those poles. But, this is definitely a great option to Jk hardtop owners.
@LangeOriginals8 жыл бұрын
+Alan Zapanta they are pretty robust thick gauged steel, and steel cable. It would take a serious jolt to bend it.

How do you use the drill to pick up the top without taking off the nut?
@langeoriginals10168 жыл бұрын
It's a nylock nut, it's pretty secure unless you are bracing the bolt..

Can you use the lift from the side of the jeep I have a roof rack that folds back and will not be able to lift from the rear

I have some limitations on the spot I would have to store this once the hardtop is on it. Can someone please give me a rough idea of the full height and width of this when it is fully collapsed?
@LangeOriginals8 жыл бұрын
The Hoist-A-Cart is adjustable. The Hoist-A-Cart is 6 feet 9 inches at its shortest and 8 feet 9 inches fully extended. Its footprint is 52 inches wide and 38 inches deep, this dimension does not change if optional door hangers are added. When the boom is extended it has a 54 inch reach. The Hoist-A-Cart works on both 2 and 4 door Jeep JK Wranglers 2007-Present.

I know it discusses how to handle a four-door hard top, but what about the doors? I only see room to hang two doors with what they show? Is there an option so that this device is all inclusive of my 4-door hard top, freedom roof panels, and four door storage? Thanks for any input you have.
@LangeOriginals7 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is a door hanger that goes on the front of the Hoist-A-Cart that holds 2 doors and your freedom top panels. Then if you look at the video around 14:46, you will see the installation of the second door hanger. It goes on the back of the Hoist-A-Cart to accommodate two more doors. So the Hoist-A-Cart will accommodate all 4 of your doors, your hard top, and your freedom top panels.

ok so for a single lady wanting to remove jeep doors - do you think this hoist would work?
@ryangagnon41387 жыл бұрын
This hoist doesn't remove the doors, only stores them. You have to remove the doors yourself the old fashioned way.

I am trying to finish putting this together by myself. It would have been so much easier had they labeled the parts and screws. Doesn't make sense! The really small parts list and hardware list is pitiful. This could have been larger and easier to read for the money paid.
@LangeOriginals7 жыл бұрын
You must have one of our first Hoist-A-Carts. For some time we've included labels on all parts and hardware. Sorry you are having a tough time assembling it. Please feel free to give us a call or shoot us an email if you need assistance, we are happy to help.

Can someone please explain (more detail) how to wind and unwind the winch using the drill. I've tried with the nut on and off, handle on and off....I believe I have all the right things....deep well socket, socket drive adapter, & drill.....but I am not coming up successful no matter what I try.
