Thanks for doing this review. Mach 4 was one of my favorite b/c my heel strike and the roll the shoe has. Hope the new design doesn’t lose this trait…
@supwell9 ай бұрын
Little bit less of that roll and the foam doesn't extend as far back as the Mach 5 but still an awesome show so far. Just size up half or full 😂

Dude, thanks so much for your thorough review. I got a lot of love for the Mach series to the point that I still have a pair of Mach 4 that I use exclusively for treadmill workout and they're awesome. I was a bit concerned with this latest version, but based on your review I'm looking forward to get me a pair. Cheers!

I totally agree with the rubber coverage on the rear foot, I hit and wear in exactly the same place and it's ridiculous they didn't just extend the rubber to the back of the shoe. Can't wait to see you take it to 100 miles to show the wear, my Mach 4 were already showing heavy wear at that stage so should be a good indication

Another great video..I gave up on hokas for a few years..now they have changed up the foams and the rocket x2 is my best long distance racer/trainer..enough that I bought several for the future..also the Cielo road and Cielo x1 are starting to take the place of other brands in my racing lineup..really like the format and real analysis instead of a shoe company ad..my day is always 10-13mi on the hamster wheel with big screen tv and Japanese races..my tunes are Chinese/Vietnamese club musics..can't understand a word but the beat is what counts..😅

@infernaltim6 ай бұрын
@@SofaKingA In case you're still on the fence, I bought both. I got rid of the Rebels and kept the Mach 6. The Rebels are super squishy in the heel for me but not the forefoot so it felt like a negative drop, like I was running uphill, and it was making me work way too hard to turn my legs over. The Mach 6 is smooth and fantastic for me.
@SofaKingA6 ай бұрын
@@infernaltim I think I'm gonna buy both shoes lol. I had a $20 coupon to use at Dicks and they only had my size in the Rebel in stock so I took the plunge. The aren't as bouncy as I expected them to be.
@infernaltim6 ай бұрын
@@SofaKingA Exact same experience here. The arch setting pushed up too much as well and felt like it was pushing my forefoot up past my heel, I just didn't get on with them. I'm a heel striker so they seem like they'd work much better for a mid to forefoot striker.

Great review, as usual. I'm curious to know about the tightness width wise. I've found, in recent years, Hoka has been narrowing their toe boxes and lowering the volume around the arches/forefoot. I'd definitely go 1/2 a size up in this and almost certainly get the wide fit edition. Like you, I got more than I thought I would out of my last Mach (I had the 4). I;m thinking the outer rubber should add to durability, but there's only one way to know for sure. Curious to see your long run/100mile review. As for your question at the end, I'll make the obvious choice: in more detail how does the Mach 6 compare to the New Balance Rebel v4?

Partial meniscectomy on each knee in 2019 and 2020. 5K time is currently only around 29 minutes. Current favorite trainer is the Tempo Next %. Running shoe is Speed 3. Any recommendations for a daily trainer and/or racing shoe? Money isn't really an obstacle. I just want to log more miles while protecting my knees and just being more healthy and active in general. Only thing i dont like is that a lot of people who just wear Hoka's for daily use and not running, dislike the looks of the thick, high sole of Hokas. The previous Mach's were the only version with a more flat appearance and now the Mach 6 looks more like all the others.
@garyhaber69579 ай бұрын
Personally, I am very upset with Hoka atm. They had one of the absolute best shoes ever with the Hoka mach five, with a huge fan base, and they were always sold out. The Mach 6 has just came out for sale and they did a switch up on all of us loyal mach fans.. The shoe is now another Clifton with a different foam. And unfortunately, would you believe they have added a whopping eight millimeters to the stack. EIGHT MILLIMETERS!!!! The shoe has nothing to do with the original mach series as it is only 2mm difference from the Clifton's, give or take. What on earth? Hoka now have nothing for those of us who like a bit of a lower stack and a bit of flexibility and ground feel, without plates, etc. I just bought a pair of New Balance Rebel v4 sneakers. They seem to be a very good replacement, particularly with the stack height and drop, with only 1mm difference in the drop. V4 are 24mm in the forefoot and 30mm in the heel, so identical to the wonderful Mach 5s with only 1mm extra in the heel. Hoka have lost my business now and I hope they eventually come out with a shoe for those who like a lower stack shoe with ground feel and flexibility, in effect, something identical to the legendary and iconic Mach 5s and even 4s. But for now, have jumped over to New Balance. By the way, the Mach 5 offered really amazing lockdown in the rear and midfoot, but still offered fantastic toe splay up front, and i dont have a narrow foot. And when you put those Mach 5s beside the Mach 6s, bro those Mach 5 still look hot as..... its like comparing a fancy sports car in the 5s, with a Toyota Camry Hybrid in the 6 😅 Just be aware of all this when buying the Mach 6, if u are a Mach 5 fan. By the way, luv all your videos, your reviews, your thoroughness, your personality and honesty, and the great and interesting angles you use of your shoes on feet. Keep up the great work. God bless all 🙏 Ps. How do u think the Rebel v4 compares with the iconic Mach 5?
