I've been loving the new Rincon from Hoka. It's super cushioned, lightweight and comfortable - it's been great for all distances and workouts. Comparing to the new Clifton 6, what do you think about the new Rincon?
@ctam795 жыл бұрын
Ethan, just curious, have you ever put in more than 500-800 miles in any given shoe, just to see how it would hold up? Probably not a good idea to try it in the Rincon, but I've got a pair of Merrell Bare Access 4's that I've put in over 1000 miles in and they're still usable.

Love the Rincon. PRs on my first run. I've noticed my legs feel fresher after longer runs. Tempo runs I can get moving faster. The wear on the sole is there but it hasn't affected my runs. Only 1 thing negative, I'm not sure if its the shoe or not, my achilles has been barking. It might be that I'm running harder/longer, which is more likely.

I also bought them on a whim after many reviewers added how wide they are for Hokas, and how pliable the upper is to accommodate your feet. There hasn't been a Hoka that fit my wider than avg. feet except for these, and the upper has indeed molded nicely to my feet after about 5 runs. Very glad I gave them a try. The exposed outsole shows wear the minute you take your first few steps in the Rincons but those small abrasions haven't changed even after 100 miles in them now.

Hi. Carl from the UK here. I've done about 70 miles in this shoe so far. It's a *good* shoe. At least as good as the Clifton 1. Like the original Clifton there is a trade-off, durability for all that cushioning at such a light weight. The sacrifice of longevity is worth it, in my view. Better to get 200-300 miles from a good shoe than 400 in a mediocre one. If they're watching, I hope Hoka actually *listen* and refrain from ruining the Rincon by adding extra weight, etc in updated versions. With all due respect to their design department, if they feel the need to justify their salaries - *JUST CREATE A NEW SHOE* Introduce new colours by all means but - if it ain't broke... ☺️

My Rincons have done over 1000 miles everything from 5k races to 15 miles.The outsoles are fine with a thin layer of Shoe goo on the soft bits and a nub on the high durability areas.The uppers are still perfect and I machine wash them every 14 days. 10/10!
@chadliu865 жыл бұрын
agreed most of your pros and cons. Rincon is my first HOKA. Ran ~60miles in it, love the cushion, fit is fine, but not perfect. The width is just wide enough for me, could be better if it is a little wider. Even at ~60 miles I see some pretty good worn down on the material. So I am not expecting it can last more than 200miles. With all the positives, I agreed with that I do feel my foot sinks in the center a little bit, but not a deal breaker. (I am a skinny and light guy) So I don't think it is related to the runner's size. Another con to me is the heel cup doesn't lock on my heel very well, as compared to my New Balance 1500t2, which just glues to my heel, the Rincon feels very loose on the heel. I think this is a design issue with HOKA. I also tried the carbon X at an event, the heel cup separates from my heel on every stride. I think that is because the very stiff carbon plate. So I like the shoe overall, but don't love it enough to buy another pair.
@agsmith0015 жыл бұрын
i am also a huge fan of the original Clifton. the Rincon is nice but the rocker is further forward (i think Altra wearers will love this shoe) and the shoe has less response for me...but since the C1 seems to be gone for good i will def buy another pair. thanks for the review!

This is my shoe of the year. I've ran 2 long trail races (forest roads, not super technical) and had fresh legs the whole time and set PR's for the races. I was initially concerned with wear but they have held up great so far...I have the Clifton 6 also and have been rotating them. I really like the new Clifton (lighter and wider) and I'm excited to wear these for fall and springs half marathons.

Since I saw this shoe was coming out, I knew I had to get myself a pair. I liked them for rest day but also for some intervals. I have had so many variations of Hoka's over the years and I completely agree with how the earlier versions just fit and felt right. The first two All Terrain Rascals were great then they sort of fell off the... path... (too cliche, I know) But they have redeemed themselves with the Speedgoats. Same goes with the Cliftons - early versions were better (1 & 2 great 3,4,5 not so great) I grabbed a pair of the Rincon just as they were released and really really liked them right out of the box. Overall fit and stance is perfect but totally agree with longevity and issues with too much mid-sole and not enough out-sole - a little more grip would really help and they can afford the additional weight gain. Great review as always and am looking forward to see what the Rincon 2 might morph into. And just for clarity sake, Santa Barbara has some epic trails but is also home to the best surf spot in SoCal and that is the ever popular Rincon Point.

I'm kinda bummed. I bought four pairs of Clifton 1 rerelease about a half year ago, and have gone through three of them. I tend to supinate, and the EVO sole gets eaten away so quickly especially along the outer side where it's not protected by tread. I decided to save my last new pair for races only, and I have two other much more durable hokas for daily trainers for both the trails and road work.

8.5oz isn't super light these days, but it's a step in the right direction for Hoka. I think their "racing" shoes aren't much under 8oz while many other companies offer sub 6oz. Too bad they couldn't add a bit more outsole coverage for durability on the Rincon, I'd be tempted to buy it if they did.

I have both the GRR7 and Rincons in 28.5cm which translates to a EU44 for the Skechers, and 44 2/3 for the Rincons. Funnily enough, they're both US10.5. The Rincons offer just a tad less wiggle room, especially when you consider the option to take out the 2mm drop insole of the Skechers, freeing up more space, and converting them to a less squishy 4mm trainer.
