Thanks for this update. Been considering getting it, after your review and this update I think it’s time to visit REI and grab a pair. Keep up the great videos!

I love that you did a side by side with the Rincon 2, and showing the durability of both, at 150 & 300 miles!

Thanks, Celine! I thought that may be helpful to show everyone how the redesigned outsole is better.

I really enjoyed my Rincon V1 until I hit 300 miles when they went pancake flat. I can't wait to know what happens to your V3s at that stage! Thanks for keeping up with this shoe as you progress!

Honestly, Paul, I think these will likely be about the same. The foam in these just isn’t designed to last long, which is probably why they are only $115. Thanks for watching!

Just ordered me a pair and looking forward to it. It will be my first Hoka shoe and I have been interested in the Rincon lineup for a while, just never got it. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for this one, Steven! I’ve been enjoying the Mach4, but suspect it won’t wear as long as your Rincon 2. Nice and light though! My wife has enjoyed the R3, being her first pair of Hoka’s.

I have loved the Rincon line since its inception! Can't wait for the Rincon 4!

Great video! I really like the Rincon 3, great Tempo day shoe. Plus the orange colorway is 🔥
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Sean! I agree; these are fast shoes. Have you been wearing the Rincon 3 on your super cold runs?
@platzs332 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven No, the upper is a bit to breathable. Plus with snow and ice I have been wearing a pair of Lone Peaks that I added screws into the outsole to really bite in. They are awesome, and hardly notice the screws on dry pavement.
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
That's what I was curious about. I have worn the Rincon 3's in the high teens, but much lower than that I would need to at least wear wool socks. I've never had to run in shoes with screws in them; just not an issue here. Glad its working for you!

loved your video sir, i have ran 2 marathons for 5 km each and now i am planning for a 10 km marathon. I am not a professional runner but very active in my gym routine. In marathons i usually sprint in between and use temp runs. Kindly advice should i go for rincon OR clifton 8 OR mach 4 ? more interested between rincon and clifton . kindly advice
@UltraTrailSteven Жыл бұрын
I would stick with the Rincon for a 5k or 10k. If you step up to a marathon (which is 26.2 miles) then maybe the Mach X.

I've got the same colour Rincon 2. Really love the shoe and look as well. I don't know how many km but sole looks quite similar to yours. Also has the most comfortable upper. Rincon 3 on the fence because sounds like tongue a bit of a problem.
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
The tongue hasn’t really cause too many issues, even on my long 23 mile run.
@TrailSage2 жыл бұрын
Dang, you really put on a lot miles in a short amount of time. Still loving mine as well. Let's hope the Rincon 4 has a better tongue!
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
Well I am averaging about 45 miles a week right now, still building slowly. Yes! Lets hope the Rincon 4 is even better!
@TrailSage2 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven Tru dat, but that 45 a week is not all road miles, so imagine you are mixing in other shoes as well. Therefor 150 for this shoe, in that time frame, is pretty impressive in my book brotha.
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
@@TrailSage no pretty much all of my miles right now are road since I am training for a road marathon. My last trail run was 12/31/21. But I am swapping between about 3-4 different shoes depending on the run for the day. Thanks man!
@calebwilson1999 Жыл бұрын
Would you recommend these for running marathon distance/race?
@UltraTrailSteven Жыл бұрын
Yes they would be fine for a marathon in my opinion.
@johngore70712 жыл бұрын
Steven, do you find that Hoka shoes tend to wear out quicker than other brands with trying to keep their shoes so light? I had considered getting the Arahi 5 or 6 this year with being a Brooks guy for road shoes.
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
HI John, I think the CEVA that Hoka uses to get such a nice midsole and ride, and save weight, isn't designed to last 500 miles. Plus, most Hoka's have minimal rubber on the outsole as compared to a shoe like Brooks. Brooks are notoriously heavy, but last 600+ miles. I guess you have to choose which is more important to you personally.
@johngore70712 жыл бұрын
@@UltraTrailSteven thank you for the information. That makes sense.

hey @UltraTrailSteven, I ordered Rincon 3 for longer 18-26k runs to prepare for marathon and eventually start in them, would you say thats a good choice?
@UltraTrailSteven2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a perfect choice! I have done upto 23 miles in the Rincon 3, but I have done two 50km races in them. I love them! Enjoy!

I found the Rincon1 and 2 were unresponsive after 120'ish miles. It was a nice shoe while it lasted. The 2s are only $90 online too 😉

I ran a marathon in my pair but wouldn’t do it again. Max 16-18 miles for me. After that distance I was wishing I had something different on my feet. Could’ve just been the day though. Great shoe.

Thanks for the input, Phil. I felt fine after 22 in mine. I have actually done two 50k's in the original Rincons surprisingly.
@philcupper2 жыл бұрын

Is this shoe considered a hybrid ( trail and road running ) shoe ?

No. This is a road shoe. With that said, I ran a 50k that was half trail, half paved. The trail was buffed out though.
