Really helpful, many thanks...this looks like a whole new shoe compared to previous Rincons which I really liked...the only good thing I guess is the price is still pretty low (£110 in UK).... it's a bit similar to the Saucony Guides which became more bulky and wide in the current iteration....

Took delivery of the Rincon 4 today. It is nearly the exact same weight as the Mach 5. Pretty similar dimensions as well, on first try-on. Not sure whether to return them or just get another pair of Mach 5s (on discount!) before they're gone. I've got 100 miles on my first pair and I already want to stash some fresh ones for the future. Have you run in the Mach 5? It seems almost like the Rincon 3: lightweight, moderately cushioned, rubberized EVA outsole, made for easy miles and possibly some tempo now and then. Why is Hoka's lineup so confusing? 😄 Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I've been trying to avoid any of the models that have a higher heel counter (unfortunately this includes the Mach 5). I'm prone to achilles tendonitis as an offshoot of having chronically tight hamstrings and it doesn't take much to make them angry. Sadly, with the changes to the Rincon, the amount of models still using a lower heel is limited.

The sole is a realy good and amazing grip, i also have the Mach 6, retired Mach 5, Clifton 9, and 3 more trail shoes from HOKA, i did not used he Rincon 3 but the Rincon 4 for me is very stable and almost the same cushion like the Mach 6, the running dynamics are even better then in the Mach 6 especially Ground Contact Time that makes the shoe very responsive, the heel is not a problem for me, i did not have to heel lock the shoe, the tongue is realy thick and the shoes fits super snug, is a bit wider than the Mach 6 but seems a bit shorter i use 43 1/3 on all Hoka shoes but on this i thing 44 EU would be better :) for the price 105 EUR payed is an amazing shoe in the rotation.

Very helpful I use Mach 6 so sizing wise get same size as Mach 6 ?

@@rubyorchard5179 Just a little more wide maybe but at the front the reinforced toe box is more narrow and is rubbing the big toe on the side, is just to pointed, normally i use us 9.5 on all the Hoka and a 10 would been beater for sure.

I ran in the rincon 3s consistently as my only shoe for 4 years, this is so sad to hear

Wow they are not available here yet but I will definitively get another 3 before they stop production. The shoe looks terrible. The Rincon had a purpose to be lightweight and have some pop while running. It feels like they had to change the midsole as well to accommodate that giant outsole platform

The Rincon 4 are terrible compared to the Rincon 3 - i almost strained my calves after a tempo long run in those shoes. I always used the Rincon 3 for tempo work (not intervals). Very disappointed.

A running shoe review but you didn't run in the shoes? You probably got it right as the sole looks awful but I don't think it's fair...

I wasn't able to because the side on the collar pushed up into my ankle bone with every step and the heel collar was pushing into my achilles. As someone who buys all their own gear, these issues were bad enough to warrant a return. I'm also comparing the Rincon 3 which is a shoe that I've run hundreds of miles in to the new version which is bad enough that I couldn't even take them out for a run.

Hoka with their big poofy tounges. So dumb. That's how they ruined the Clifton 7 going to the 8.

I got them last week in White & Gold. They actually look very nice. I am a big fan of the Rincons, love their versatility. The daily trainer that does it all. The 4s are a completely different shoe. Stiffer & snappier. After a couple of easy runs and some speed work at the track, the 1st impression is not bad, but it's not a a Rincon anymore. Looks like they finally fixed the durability issue though. Cheers🎉

@@tw9341 if you don't mind, that they run more like the Mach's then the prior Rincon iterations, then sure. If not, I would stay away and get a couple more 3s
