You could probably ask Genki regarding adding Street Supremacy's turf system to TXR '25. The game is going into early access, and they have said that they want player feedback. A perfect way to do it imo is to be able to pick between going it alone and having a team.

my favorite unique gameplay mechanic in TXR was the PA system in TXR Drift as well as the message board. The concept of each racer having a real identity, a synopsis about who they are and that in turn affecting how they race is pretty awesome. its also pretty hilarious and cool that you can see them on the message board talking about random stuff or trying to start beef with other people like a real forum lol. it really adds a whole different layer of immersion to the game and considering TXR 2025 is adding the ability to go to PA's in the game, I'd be cool if they allowed you to interact with the racers in new ways which in turn affect you gameplay wise kinda like the karma system in fallout new vegas.
@frombuenosaeris10 күн бұрын
The last TXR game that came out, Import Tuner Challenge (an Xbox 360 exclusive) also had this feature, and I'm pretty sure you could drive into the PA off-ramps from the highway to go straight to the PAs and challenge any rivals who were there. They all had dialogue as well, and some rivals/teams could only be challenged at PAs since they didn't appear on the highway. Cat X Cat (a duo team of two RX-8s, one of whom was a former Wanderer in previous games) were one such team who could only be challenged at the PA, and according to the website they're coming back in the new game, so I wouldn't be surprised if the PA system makes a return too. On that note, both ITC and TXR3 had rare instances where you raced multiple rivals at once, sometimes with a new rival joining the battle midway, so I'm hoping those make a return as well.

I remember playing Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero as a kid growing up in the early 2000s. I was into the import scene as a kid growing up so this game was really cool to me. I didn’t quite understand it, I just raced anyone I saw on the road. Fast forward to 2015, I gave it another shot on the PCSX on PC or the PS2 simulator on PC. I have to say that game was very difficult to beat. I beaten all 400 rivals. It’s the fact that you have to do certain things to find some rivals that made it very hard. Such as your license plate, time of day, what type of car you drove mattered. It’s still crazy to me that, that’s how it really was back in the 90s and early 2000s racing on the Tokyo highways. One of my favorite things about that game is the soundtrack. I can’t wait for this new one to drop.

4:17 There are a few exceptions, where sometimes you might be racing against 2 or even 3 rivals simultaneously, or for marathon bosses/rivals where you must defeat several rivals in a row (i.e. TXR3's D3 from Nagoya, as well as the GT-R trio of Darts). Being in the UK, I didnt get access to TXR3 when i was younger, but i had the rest of them, Including Import tuner and especially Kaido racer 1 and 2 all of genki's works i have played and enjoyed and still have them today like S.L.A.I and its exceptionally interesting on how they do games, i think the base gameplay of most things are rather simple but feel more complex than they should, but they flesh the depth out with lore that you can act upon, the BBS system for example tells you about rivals "This guy in a k13 who always races in the rain" and yeah, on a rainy day you will find him, but you can do odd things like challenge people at a certain time and get different context on routes because you beat his mate first or something, maybe its just easy to understand as they talk about cars a lot but its so well done.

in fast furious tokyo drift game, you also drive around wangan to challenge free roam rivals, to get to your destination, which have you take an exit ramp to get to challenge more rivals, garage, car shops. Some exit ramps also go to rivals that you race in touges, which i think is very cool idea to use exit ramps in these kind of games. The wangan map i think is smaller and tweaked, i remember they have another very long straight that branches from the wangan bayshore straight, heading south.

I loved the Team mechanics and Turf system in Street Supremacy. Which also made it fun for multiple playthroughs, since NG+ allows you to pick ANY starting team. With TXR25 going Early Access, I hope it gives them time to maybe incorporate a system very similar to Street Supremacy. Being the Lone Wolf and taking down everyone is fine, but building up a team and battling other teams is a lot of fun. Watching the AI races in Street Supremacy were a good way to kill time and enjoy the game as well. Another aspect I hope they continue with was from Import Tuner Challenge. TXR always have Pit Area/Parking Areas, but Import Tuner Challenge actually made them hubs for races and lore building. I have seen a couple of screen shots where it looks like they are bringing back the silhouettes of racers/NPCs. Its gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOONG two weeks as I wait for the game to go live.

It is hardly a simcade handling wise, compare it to GTPSP and it's quite clear that SS just have ultra slow input response hence why it feels strange to play. TXR3 stands to bring back something sorely lacking in modern racing games. ACTUAL street racing with some edge to it. Series like Horizon, The Crew, and Test Drive Unlimited have just be come so incredibly santized. They also REALLY lack the fun of starting with a slow car, making it fast, and really earning your first true "fast" car. They just throw cars at you, it gets boring and honestly, overwhelming. There is no relationship with any of the cars like we used to get with these older games.

Shame I never played any of the TXR games as I was a PC gamer. I guess Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune was my closest experience I could ever get to TXR! I quit in 2019 though.

Trivia : Genki did the assistance for the Bandai Namco's long-running WMMT series since Wangan Midnight R (the arcade version of the Wangan Midnight PS2).

I loved this series. Wish the new one would come to Xbox, not just steam.
