Keep in mind also, whenever a child is asking a parent why, they almost always do not actually want an answer, they simply want to get out of doing whatever the parent told them to do. If the child is actually wanting to know why, then explaining why is okay, but that is rarely the case. This also teaches them an important lesson about respect.
