Love this... So glad I found your other channel (This one). I love D.S. watercolors. I also love Schmincke. I'm about to try Holbein, but I've ordered them in tubes. I have only tried two Sennelier colors and I liked them so far. Love the Lenormand cards you showed.

This was very enjoyable and relaxing to watch...it was fun seeing you unbox and try out your new Holbein paints. I really love HWC, they're very pigmented, smooth and rewet super easily (as you mentioned). There's a few things I'd like to clarify about some of the colours here...the vermillion in this palette isn't a true vermillion but rather a "hue". This is a 3 pigment mixture, which has yellow in it and this is why it has an orange feel to it. Cadmium pigments are opaque in nature, so all the cadmium colours are very opaque. I'm not sure which cobalt blue is included in this set, but neither their true cobalt blue nor the hue variant has any white in it. Overall this set has a lot of nice colours, esp that shadow green (Perylene green) is truly wonderful. I've been eyeing it for a while, and it's a great purchase I feel. I also especially like the fact that the palette is detachable and can be attached to any of the sides. There's also a very pretty little red box set, it's soo cute I feel like buying it just because of how tiny and adorable it is 😅

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the pigments here, I really appreciate it!! I have learned from painting a lot more with Holbein also that it doesn't move as much as others which I believe is due to them expecting the painter to add oxgall as they see fit, it makes it a handy set of paints to have because if I do want a color to "stay put" more in a wash, I'll go to Holbein colors, but if I'm looking for a lot of movement, I don't tend to reach for them, it's really fun seeing how different paints act and react! I'm going to have to peek at the pretty little red box set though I'll probably regret it ;)

you can add individual pan, at least very availably in East Asia. And Holbein is relatively cheap here, too, comparing to brands such as Daniel Smith whose price is basically the same to that in USA. And the W N watercolor is quite expensive here.

Nice set. It looks very good for travel. If you like these paints you should check out Nicolle's Dream for her swatching of all 108 Holbein watercolours.

You are terrible! You are keeping me up Way too late! I thought I'll just watch for a minute so it shows up to watch later. Also miss Kelly you are already bad for my wallet and now you have this new channel. I really want these! Maybe when taxes come back. I have to clean up a lot of drool before I can go to bed. I have to say I am so excited about this new channel and can't wait for more!

I got mine today, the 18 colors it cost me JPY 9180 (USD 86.13). My initial findings: 1. Brush is very good, holding a lot of paper 2. tray sit perfectly on the cover but not on the side lip of the pan container, the water/color wash will definitely will flow sideways and 3. the plastic tray quality needs to improve, the watercolor paint leaves mark and you cannot totally remove them

Are you experiencing the same problem I have re: magnet is weak ; and is it normal that the watercolor in pan is always moist? Thanks.

I couldn't find a video on when you put extra pans in this set, how did it go? I am waiting for my 36 pan set! How have you liked the set over time?

I remember that the pan is with ox gall. And the tubes not.

Do I do my own videos... or catch up on my favorites... catch up :D the colours look so vibrant. I have to admit to having a thing for purchasing 'raw materials' from Japan. Their quality and I believe ethics, are just wonderful. When I make my incense, I try to follow the Japanese method both in making cones (makko base with no artificial filler or bad for you accelerants!) , and burning loose (white rice ash and bamboo charcoal). I have always had a thing for the culture. I think I first fell in love with tea ceremonies when I watched the Karate Kid growing up, lol. Once of the many things that lead me to Mourning Tea :) The magnetic strip is a brilliant idea!! Again, not surprised, the attention to details, seriously! They look so small though. how long would they last? I assume since these are very potent you only need a little? It's true pigment concentrates? Okay so they need to work on wrapping lol. Your fingers, your toes, Kelly!! The 4th one looks like a sunset orange. Wow the colours are very vibrant! between you and Rosy May, I totally want to get back into colouring! Not artistry like you, I don't have that talent, seriously wish I did, my Book of Passages (aka BOS) is very practical lol, not pretty :) I see a 3rd art channel.. Truth in Colour ;)

I have to admit I don't know too much about Japanese culture but I do think this palette speaks highly to that attention to detail and yes, given the pigment load you don't need much. Some will go faster than others and then I'll refill them from tubes as that is more economical but this was such a good deal it was a (relatively) cheap way to jump into the line, and even better, a Christmas present lol :D
