I love KZbin. I was confused by the title so I thought I'd take a listen. I knew The Zombies from Time Of The Season, She's Not There and Tell Her No when I was 13ish and until today, I didn't know that they formed Argent. I never really followed the musicians names (still dont) or I might have picked up on Argent. I learned a LOT of things today!!! Peace

I had absolutely no idea about the connection between “The Zombies” and “Argent” whose debut album originally featured this song. It’s awesome that this material is still being performed, and that it is still relevant. “The Zombies” were a creative force that inspired many artists throughout the decades and their music helped to launch a variety of musicians careers including Carlos Santana, whose rendition of “She’s Not There” was one of his earliest hits. “The Zombies” definitely deserve to be inducted into the Rock’n Roll Hall Of Fame soon, if they haven’t been already. They still sound great. Thank you for posting this video! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨

A little background on the song: When "Odyssey & Oracle" came out the Zombies had already broken up. Rod Argent explained that "Hold Your Head Up", written by Chris White of the Zombies, evolved from a keyboard jam that Rod was doing in the break of "Time of the Season" as his band Argent was playing it to promote it, since their was no active offlcial band called the Zombies to promote the record. And Rod is always quick to state that the words are actually "Hold your head up, *woman*".

Indeed, and like Keith Emerson, Rod's not too proud to quote some tasty J.S. Bach (which NEVER gets old) - both BWV 147 and 565. Without Bach, the best keyboardists of the Rock era (Jon Lord, KE, RA, Rick Wakeman, etc) would have never had the melodic and harmonic sophistication, or the phrasing, (or the rigour) that made their music so legendary.
