Joan and John Cusack are great people. My landlord met Joan at her house in Chicago. I ran into John twice at the Malibu Inn in California. He recognized my Chicago accent right away. School Of Rock is a work of genius. Not only is it a genuinely brilliant and comprehensive education in Rock & Roll, it's also utterly hilarious, perfectly cast and extremely well written. Mike White, Jack Black and Richard Linklater deserve so much credit for this film, but also the incredible kids that make up that class. When a film is so quotable like this you know its done its job and then some. There are countless favourite moments I have in this film, but one that always makes me cackle with laughter is the way Joan Cusack delivers "I've just been informed, all of your children are missing". (Also RIP to Kevin Clark who sadly passed away 2 years ago at just 32 years old.)

This should be a class. When you think about it Jack black is the best teacher ever. He found rols for everyone. Something they loved, and souther were good at. At he let it grow and he encouraged them. When the little guy wanted to make the outfits, DO IT! You don't wanna be a roadie wanna be a manager? DO IT! wanna sing? DO IT! He never stopped encouraging these kids. He found what they liked and what they were good at and told them to be the best at it. Fun fact the band got back together for a few shows with Jack black like 10 years after this movie

This movie is two hours of Jack Black teaching those kids (and people in general, including the viewer) to be confident in who they are and to pursue the things you're passionate about without worrying about getting approval from others. And you'll notice that he never hesitated to let the couple of kids that wanted to change their role in the band, to change their role in the band. For example, the one kid that wanted to be the band's stylist rather than be part of security; Dewey just said, with no absolutely zero hesitation, "Of course you can, Fancy Pants." No judgments, no weird looks, no questions about why that's what he wanted... he just let him do it. It's a great movie with a lot of teachable moments that everyone can benefit from. I really loved how much this movie got you smiling and laughing 😊

In my opinion, this is one of THE most influential movies made in the 21st century. Before this film was released, most kids had no appreciation whatsoever for music that was made before they were born. School of Rock is single-handedly responsible for kids today listening to Zeppelin, AC/DC and the Stones.

@TTM9691
@TTM9691 10 ай бұрын
That is absolutely ridiculous, every line of this comment. It's a great movie, but everything you just said is fiction fantasy. ESPECIALLY when you're talking about Zeppelin, AC/DC and (to a lesser extent) The Stones. Those bands have NEVER gone out of style, every generation discovers them, through a whole variety of avenues (first and foremost, their parents and their older brothers and sisters). In the 80s, those bands continued to be big, in the 90s same exact thing. Amy knew all the songs being referenced (even knew who Lemmy was), and had never seen the movie (although she had played Guitar Hero. Probably as much of an influence, if not more than this movie). I'm not saying the influence was negligible, but that's completely idiotic. I worked at the club they filmed the first scene of this movie (I was there), we had the real School Of Rock playing there, like, the next year, doing an all Zappa show.

It's always funny to me how much people hate Sarah Silverman's character. Like yeah she's overbearing and blunt but I feel like almost all of us would be the exact same way if we had a roommate who slept in constantly, had no job, and was months behind on rent. Dewey is a great character and I love him but he really did walk all over Ned in the beginning. And Ned kinda let himself be a doormat. Calling the cops was a really shitty thing to do though. Coincidentally, maybe, but probably not, there is (or was) a string of franchises called "School of Rock", with music videos published on YT. Based on inadequate sampling, my favorite is the LA franchise's cover of California Dreamin'. 2. There are a handful of YT videos showing a cast reunion. And yes, many of the cast grew up to be terrific musicians. 3. Also, I found a JPEG on the internet, probably a screen capture, showing the chalkboard's family tree of rock bands.

Tenacious D and pick of Destiny is like this just take out kids, add pot, devil, increase age rating due much more adult language... then just let loose and watch Jack Black goes wild with Kyle Gass and insane cameo's. I just loved when Ames face light when bass came into play.

If this great movie has a flaw, it might be making you hate Sarah Silverman. You shouldn't. She's an absolutely great comedian. And she's got zero fear. Zip. None. Nada. Check out her Stand-Up Show 'Jesus Is Magic' for example. Rude, Crude, and brilliant! And in Judd Apatow's 'Funny People' she did a cameo as herself and told just about the funniest joke I ever heard. And no, I won't spoil it here.

Either a lot of people have notifications on or this popped up on people recommended or this channel and the subs are just that goodZ but 9k views in under 10 hours on a channel that has less 100k (59k subs) subs is NUTS!

Years ago, a girl living in my building gave me the DVD of S.O.R. and I have to say I never laughed so much. Jack Black and all the kids are awesome sauce ❤

Jack Black is amazing as a Dramatic Actor as well. I highly recommend King Kong (2005).

I had a calculus professor in college who also plays the keyboard for a prog rock band and he was a good professor and his band's music is amazing. That dude found a way to teach and keep his musician dreams alive so it's possible. Honestly, this movie is basically Jack Black telling kids that it's okay to be themselves and I love it! Fun fact: they had to do a lot of extra takes on this movie because Jack kept making the child actors crack up on set by being himself

Actually kids played instruments for REAL and they had reunion concerts pretty recently I think..... Sadly kid that played drummer died several years ago in bike accident. And several of them are still playing I think like girl that is playing bas I think actually that she is stand up comedian now but did released some albums...

Summer was played by Miranda Cosgrove; she was iCarly on TV for quite awhile (my kids watched her show) & has released some albums.

This is such a wholesome, funny and awesome movie. The kids must've had a blast and what's even better is that it seems they kept in touch thru the years, they had a reunion, a few yrs ago, with the exception of Freddie (drums) as he sadly passed away. I'm sure that will keep them united and they will pay their respects from time to time. Such an awesome movie. Loved the reaction btw

Jack Black is the coolest celebrity in my opinion, and Tenacious D is the greatest band of all time ❤ Tribute has a pretty funny video with a sneaky Celebrity Cameo and some good physical comedy. 😁

Someone did a great video about how only Jack Black could sell a movie about a man conning children for 6 months. I believe him. He's a treasure.

I thought it was funny that in the movie Summer couldn’t sing. She (Miranda Cosgrove) is the only one in the movie other than Jack who’s had a successful recording career.

Personally i find dewey to be hypocritical in this movie. He means well but to force Zach to emote the 'proper ways' onstage and then calling it Zach's passion several times when it's clear all Zach wants to do is vibe is pretty annoying, especially bc Dewey sees himself as different if not better than Zach's dad in that sense. To a greater extent, Dewey telling everyone constantly about how music and rocking is about passion and having fun and being yourself and then doing a 180 treating them like stage props telling them the proper way is just obnoxiously hypocritical to me.
