I'm not sure if this would be the exact case, but practise is played live in Aus/Nz. So if say the window for this chat was at 10.30, and they wanted Neil in the chat as well, but he was busy at the other end of the pit lane, then when he was free they could switch to him, rather than filling in time waiting for him to walk the length or of lane, or however far away he was, to get to them.

Holden has been an importer roughly 30 years or more, in recent times they made a commodore and an overpriced cruize that nobody wanted. V8 supercars have not been relevant to production vehicles for near 25 years, basically a tube chassis with tacked on panel work and 100% nothing from the factory other than the badge and a taillight.

Well, i'm not surprised Holden is dead. The general public stopped buying their cars because they were rubbish. Pure and simple. The commodore was ok to be fair, but was let down with cheap plastics and general build quality. Equinox, cruize, colorado, trax, epica, craptiva ? All rubbish !

Holden started way earlier than 1948, They made horse saddles first, horse draw coaches, ammunition and equipment for World War II, way before General Motors stuck their big noses in on this Australian Company, and when Holden Cars where better then the GM Americans cars, Tony Hyde (the last Australian on Holden's Board) was pushed out the door, and GM America planned, and did, deliberately destroyed Holden.

I remember when he left Holden and made a big deal about how he was always a Ford man and how whenever there was a fan day he would have to park his Cortina a few blocks away. Skaife, you drove the Godzilla and what happened? The car got banned bec it was too advanced and too good. This is the sign that Ford and Holden are stuck in a time warp. This resulted in crappy cars being made which the average consumer will not buy. This is what killed both Ford Aus and Holden Aus.

I'm sure general motors will still be apart of Supercars, exactly what they will use well I dont know. However with that said I do have a prediction on which manufactures we could see in the future. These manufactures are: Chevrolet with the Camaro Kia with the Stinger BMW with the M4 Mazda with the Mazda 6 Toyota with the Camry Audi with the RS5 Alfa Romeo with the Guilia Peugeot with the 508 Skoda with the Octavia They are my predictions.

Originally designed by GM Opel but sold to Peugeot. People are not buying 4/5 door sedans, the Stinger has suffered the same slow sales but Kia have a better range of SUV’s which are what are selling.

Over here in the UK I've seen more E Types than Commodores. More 458's than Commodores! They've always been a rare sight, even though the right hand drive is there straight away. They turn heads and put a massive smile on the face of any motorsport fan. But it's true, they don't sell. People can't afford to have emotions anymore.

The product should be an answer to consumers demands. This is only one aspect of the problem but you ignore the customer at your peril.

They had an export market in the middle east selling Commodores as Chevrolets but America's wars killed that. They had a potential market in the US with the Monaro and Ute, but US unions wouldn't allow anything but small numbers in. Then GM manages to go broke and the market develops a fixation for SUVs which Ford tried to exploit with their Territory, but that didn't save them either.

GM announced they shut the Chevrolet Factory in Thailand on the same day. Stopping the incentive may or may not have worked. As a lot of American manufacturing is returning back to the USA because of tax incentives. Now Australia’s manufacturing base is smaller.to non existent. All happened on PM Turnbals watch.

My first Holden was Insignia VXR and I was always given 💩 for it, sold it and bought new A5. Holden failed because of it’s fans, fans were buying Toyota and Hyundai... Bring Audi, BMW and Merc cars, there are lots of them on our roads!

The Holden Ford rivalry dates back to the fifties in Australia. You won't duplicate that overnight, certainly not with Audi, BMW and Mercedes. They may have some kind of European racing rivalry, but have traditionally been seen as a rich persons car in Australia, partly because of how much more they cost here compared to Europe.

Since dropping the Commodore and trying to tell your devoted fans they were going to have to buy something completely different, Holden has struggled to sell a bloody thing. Panned out really well didn't it? Ford has the Ranger and the Mustang, but to give you an idea of how clueless the business people are at the very top, Fords global CEO was shocked, SHOCKED, at how well the Mustang started selling here! The way globalism is affecting this country, not just financially but politically as well, is just horrible. I'm in the middle of my natural lifetime, but won't be surprised whatsoever if this country is annexed completely by China before my time is done.

It just doesn’t matter. I drove one for years then got in a Toyota and never went back. Supercars can become the Mustang series. The dealers will carry other brands or they will go out of business. The Ford fans will be elated.

Sad that The Depression caused the original Holden to go bankrupt. Such an innovative company that had just expanded at the time too. That's when the cashed up GM yanks swooped in to buy the company at a steal! The cars always had GM inspired styles, GM inspired engines but Aussie spirit & ingenuity. What a shame. The shame came a long time ago regarding manufacturing cars in Australia. Since Mitsubishi first closed its doors so many years ago, the writing was on the wall. Then followed Toyota, then Ford & finally Holden ceasing production in 2017. But let's remember it's the removal of tariffs that's to blame as tariffs are the only way to level the playing field when it comes to cheap external labour rates. I'll stick to my old Commodore for as long as possible. It's simple but it's Australian. Like me.

Supercars would be shitting themselves after falling asleep at the wheel since 2017. It beggars belief that they didnt see this coming and have contingencies in place. Now they are forced to scramble to find another manufacturer who is willing to join the series. So far we have had only Volvo and Nissan come and go as official factory teams. Mercedes were never officially involved with Supercars as Erebus provided much of their own comercial and technical support. So as it stands, Supercars has not had a good track record in maintaining manufacturers (excluding Ford and Holden) in their series so this does note bode well for the future of the sport. No news on Gen3 yet either and if its going to be fast tracked to entice new manufacturers. Personally I think Supercars are better of dropping Gen3 and moving towards adoption of GT3 spefication race cars. They are just as quick if not quicker than the current V8 Supercars and also more diverse in manufacturers.

4:13 talking about right hand drive. Only GM can't cope with right hand drive. Hard to name a non US make that does not make right hand drive. eg Some that are capable of making right hand drive as well as left hand drive : Tesla, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, VW, Fiat, McLaren, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Volvo, Peugeot, Renault, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Citroen, Jaguar, Skoda, MG etc then all the Japanese and Korean makes. Even obscure down market makers like Dacia. So may Fords out there with right hand drive. Who is not capable of making both versions? Who convinced Mark Skaife and a slab of the motoring press with this rubbish argument? Any additions to the list of current makers making both?

Martin S....No, it wont be but you need to look past that. I grew up seeing a multitude of brands screaming around Mount Panorama and all on the track at once. It was truly awesome to watch so many different categories jostling for position. Alfas, Jags, Holdens, BMWs, Fords, Volvo, Nissan, etc, etc. It was chaotic, frustrating (watching your favourite driver getting stuck behind a little Corolla or similar) but it was always very exciting.

Blame Mary Barra. This has been a part of her plan for a long time. She's making GM go 'Woke' and we have seen how that kind of move has turned out for other companies. Ahh, how much did it cost Gillette? Only 8 billion and they haven't recovered. GM may be the number 1 manufacturer in the US now but let's see how her electrification program goes over the next 5 years. All electric cars suffer from ONE BIG PROBLEM, charging time! Until they produce a 500km range vehicle with a 5 minute (100%) battery charge that doesn't A: explode and B: cost 6 figures they are not going to sell in any significant numbers. I don't disagree they could one day reach that goal but can companies that put all their eggs into that basket survive long enough to make it happen. Right now Mrs Barra is using all the money she makes from popular Trucks, Utes and SUV's and ploughing it into unpopular EV's and autonomous driving technology. Now she has destroyed Holden I'm going to grab a beer, sit back and enjoy watching her drive the parent of Australia's favourite car company off a cliff. I'll then walk to the edge of that cliff and yell good riddance.

The thing about HOLDEN is that they are a cheating lying company,i was bought up in a Holden family and i loved my Dads and Uncles EJS and EHS,BUT WHEN BROCK WAS WINNING BATHURST BY SIX LAPS,i any my mates and other guys i knew had HZ utes AND GTSs v8s and A9X toranas.BLOWING UP MOTORS ,diffs and gearboxs and such oil guzzling junk,thats my story Scaife ,Lowndes,Murphy.
