I have to say we were pretty surprised by this one......Check out the video with some headphones on!
We started by cracking into the ECU and TCM with HP Tuner and went from there. Adjustments were made to the fueling, cam timing, ignition timing, torque limits and transmission. The most drastic changes being the ignition timing and the transmission.
The ignition timing map was extended to redline as well as the cam timing drastically improving the power band. After this a huge amount of time was spent on the transmission. This particular vehicle had transmission slipping issues after increasing the engine power output and the shifting was slow and lagging. We increased the clamping force, line pressure, decreased the shift timing, increased the torque converter pressure and speed and adjusted the shifting maps to accommodate the extra power. After adjustment the automatic felt and drove like a manual in tiptronic. The customer should also see better fuel economy.
The end results were drastic.... who knows why Holden didn't make these changes. The car had power to redline, the torque limits were removed, shifting was drastically improved and the overall drivability improvement made the car feel 10 years newer.
