You should have titled this ECU PIM or BCM fix. My ECU recently failed and was giving injector 5 and 6 powertrain errors. I took the three from another car (same engine HBL) and swapped them over. I got told it would mess up the CAN BUS systems and not work with my TCU/ABS/SRS ect, but this actually works, not a single error code (after clearing the ones I had). I removed the metal part of my car key and put it in the donors shell as well.

Here’s a tip I had the same problem just try turn traction control off when you start the car idk why this works but it does on a ve sv6 (for anyone with this issue)

Hey mate you seem switched on I’m having a slightly similar situation curious if you’d be of help. I have an 05 vz crewman storm Leo engine that when I bout it drove fine on test drive but hr or so after buying and transferring in my name the car randomly just off fuel gauge said quarter so thought was faulty and ran out fuel till it started and I fueled it up only toke few Ls then started to do it more often now it’ll start rarely and when does either I stand die, run for a couple mins or idle for hr and half turn car off then on it’ll die 15 secs later. Would replacing these items fix this problem as well sorry be a bother but first thing I’ve found to similar problem

You could've swapped the key blades around so all of the ignition & door lock barrels could be kept original,I coded a new ignition barrel for my VY SS Commodore & my dads VX Commodore so that the original key could be used. I might have to look at resoldering any possible dry joints on the circuit board in my VY SS Commodores body control module or replace the relay for the air conditioning compressor clutch request command signal which is sent to the powertrain control module to turn on the air conditioning compressor clutch. In my car it's intermittently blowing warm air & the compressor clutch isn't turning on meaning that I may have a faulty button or body control module relay inside of the module. The silly part is that I can bypass the BCM to run the air conditioning system!

You`ve also just made it a lot harder to replace the ECM when it inevitably fails next time. The PIM stores a security code and is used to unmarry the ECM & PIM and then afterwards to link a virgin unlocked reco ECM to the PIM. Workshops need this code to replace an ECM with a virginised reco unit. Now you`ve changed the PIM and also therefore the code. When workshops ring AASRA to get the code they will get the original PIM code (as was recorded by Holden) and linking will not work necessitating sending everything you just replaced to somewhere that can repair the ECM. Sometimes taking 2-3 weeks and badly inconveniencing the owner. Most people with these cars don`t realise that while all VZ V6s use the exact same ECM , there is about 6-10 different software programs they can have depending on diff ratio , tyre size , sedan , wagon , ute and a lot more. The BCMs are linked not locked to only the ECM via a handshake with a good scantool. With this one you could have just bought a second hand barrel / keys and BCM - and get a mobile locksmith out to handshake the BCM to ECM or bought a reco exch BCM which comes with a pre programmed to BCM key fob and had the locksmith cut a new blade to suit the doors and barrel. If anyone is watching and has a problem with a VZ V6 ECM (the PIMS rarely fail) - don`t swap out these parts. It may get you on the road quicker but will bite you or the next owner on the ass down the line guaranteed. I know this video is 4 years old and has good intentions but I think others should know the consequences of what they`re doing.

I have vy SS think battery in key bit flat but anyway hit key nothing!!! 3 more times n started as always but now temp gauge ain't working ...could it be BCM ...thought maybe wires on left side head maybe loose but wasn't the case,anyone have an idea

Just a quick question mate. I have a 190kw 2005 vz sv6 manual. Now I think I have this problem. I can jump in my car and go to turn the key 🔑 and nothing happens dead no crank at all. I pop my bonnet and lift the starter fuse and use abit of wire and by pass the starter and it’ll start. Then I can jump in my car and turn it off and restart it with the key no problem but if I leave it for 15/20 mins I have to restart it under the hood again. Can you tell me what that would be.

@@jamescondon3363 no mate,I just ended up spitting it with having to pop the bonnet 😅 everytime. In town or somewhere out n about, so I ran a wire,from the starter fuse,into the car to a push to start button on my console,all I do is jump in,turn ignition on and press to start button n it starts. Then I can use the key to turn off n on again. Auto elec’s want an arm n leg to just look at the issues these days.

I have the same issue,let me know how u fixed this. I have a sv6 6 speed manual vz. Lost my license so I parked it up for 12 months. Started it regularly,then went for a stint. When I got out battery was flat (well I thought) tried run startin it,jump startin it,and nothin. Hot wire from the relay starter fuse,bam it fired,then I can turn off with a key and restart it with key. BUT if I leave it say 15 mins after turning it off,I have to start it under relay again. Any ideas
