I basically did the same thing for this in 4th grade, but instead we transferred the die onto paper to make cool looking journals, but we didn't later rinse it, for obvious reasons. From what I remember it came out pretty cool, it had a similar swirl pattern/design that you guys had with the pillow cases. Also note we did this on thick paper, not plain computer paper.

Oh my gosh Penn with the ukulele that was so funny 😂. Just so you guys know Rit is ok for water bath dyeing but for better colors I would get fiber reactive dye. Jacquard makes kits that are available or order online. You want a dye with soda ash included in the kit.

I've done some clothes dying, and it can depend heavily on what the fabric is, whether it's all cotton or if it has polyester, cotton takes dye but poly does not...

Also, if the fabric was pre-washed without fabric softener of any kind.

I've done this as a craft with kids to make pretty paper for mother's day cards and such. I let them choose only 2 colors that won't mix to brown. The shaving cream doesn't need to be perfectly smooth. I tell them to play and when the colors have mixed nicely I'll yell "hands up!". I'll swoop in with paper and pick up the print them let them go again. We usually get 2 or 3 good ones before the colors are too mixed. (I also use food coloring rather than fabric dye.). Any age kid can do it and loves it!

It's all in the swirls for sure. But hey, it looks like a tie-dyed pillow case - so with that. :D
@kenstrampe76095 жыл бұрын
try baking banana bread in mason jars and see how they taste the next day the next week the next month. as for the pillow cases it seems you are spending a lot of money on shaving cream and you are only getting part of the pillow case done and not the whole pillow case. plus i would think using a fabric paint would be better than the dye, but who knows without trying it.

It's normal for color to bleed when you're fixing it. There is so much extra dye in the fabric it needs to be rinsed out. you didn't do anything wrong
