Courtney's version gives a completely different meaning to the original. Genius. Say what you will about her, she is still a musical icon , genius. She changed the game for female true artists

She had been really important in the evolution of rock music, and in the music in general. Her lyrics are very deep and inspired, real poetry full of passion, influenced by the pain felt in life from the birth to the old age... very interesting in an artistic way...

And this cover fit so well to this band, they made a very personal dark version...

She is so underrated. Truly. A musical genius. I wish they turned this performance into an album.

Totally agree! I wish they would've made an album too. This band WAS totally underrated...The way she did this song was iconic! I listened to the original and it doesn't compare...

@@mrs.kurtcobain1965 there is literally an album of this. also Hole were massively popular so not sure about "underrated".

This song is so fucking disturbing to me. I _know_ Courtney did it as irony. But shit. When you've gone through this type of hell, mental and physical abuse in a song or a movie takes on a different meaning because its real. Oh and PS~ It _never_ felt like a kiss ....
@anuxadantas3 жыл бұрын
but it's a cover, it wasn't written by her
@michaelametalbaby3 жыл бұрын
Exactly.. she even states so that Carole King wrote the song at the beginning, the song is wayyyyyyy older than when Hole covered it in 95 unplugged
@prizramirez20752 жыл бұрын
To be fair this was a song from what I believe from the 1960’s or 50’s could you imagine how the girls from the crystals sounded in those times ? Pretty trippy huh .

It's about when the verbal abuse and threatening behavior becomes so all encompassing and frequent, that sometimes you do just beg them to hit you so it's over with for a few hours.
@chettaisbetta2 жыл бұрын
@@bh29 no it’s not. Their babysitter (Carol King and her husband who also wrote it with her) was in an abusive relationship and when they asked her why she stayed, she said it’s because she knows he loves her.

@@michaelametalbaby he had 10 times the lethal dosage of heroin he wouldn't be able to even pick up a shotgun that long he was too weak courtney had him killed or killed him herself watch soaked in bleach there is a shit load of proof

@@Iamthemerkin fun fact when u abuse heroin you build up a tolerance, meaning you need more to get the desired effect. even heavy users at the time in Seattle said they were worried for him. soaked in bleach isn’t reliable, Tom grants a misogynistic asshole who twisted interviews to fit his narrative. you forget this is real people, saying that shit is so disrespectful to his family and friends.
