She had been really important in the evolution of rock music, and in the music in general. Her lyrics are very deep and inspired, real poetry full of passion, influenced by the pain felt in life from the birth to the old age... very interesting in an artistic way...

It's about when the verbal abuse and threatening behavior becomes so all encompassing and frequent, that sometimes you do just beg them to hit you so it's over with for a few hours.

@@bh29 no it’s not. Their babysitter (Carol King and her husband who also wrote it with her) was in an abusive relationship and when they asked her why she stayed, she said it’s because she knows he loves her.

Well, I never saw the replies until now. It's absolutely horrible and inexcusable that he probably hit her, but I'm still sure she hired someone to kill him. Both things can be right.
