I suspect that relates to the 19% tax rate... which, for the small band of income it is taxed on, is the equivalent of something like £20 for a whole year! But then, after that, the rates all get higher than the rest of the UK, and at a lower threshold. So... if anyone is paying less tax than their equivalent in the rest of the UK, they must only be earning around 20k per year, and if that's 80% more folk - that means salaries for lots of folk in Scotland are piss poor!

Where is all the money going? I live in Caithness and our roads are nothing more than dirt tracks. NHS Scotland is in a dire state and we can't get doctors or dentist appointments and despite there being a fairly new hospital up here, we still have to sit on a train for 4.5 hours each way for a 5 minute appointment at Raigmore! As for the transport situation, the local bus service is nothing short of useless. Caithness didn't vote for the SNP and never will yet we are shafted by them on a daily basis and our beautiful landscape is blighted with ever increasing numbers of wind turbines. The SNP are a busted flush and should be shown the door but the muppets in the central belt STILL vote them in!

Yes, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross is all stuck together for the voting. Caithness is predominantly Lib dems. Lord Thurso and lately Jamie Stone. Sutherland and Ross voted for SNP. As for being "lucky" i don't consider having to wait four days and have a 250 mile round trip after having a heart attack in order to get an angiogram done. No jobs up here that pay a decent wage, Thousands have no dentist up here and cannot afford to go private either and a 2-3 week wait to see a doctor is just a joke!.....so i really don't know how you can say we are lucky up here sorry.
