The new touch of infinity feels like almost a mokery of the normal skin wrinkles, like the infinity cant tell the difference between wrinkles and the rings of a tree. It feels so viseraly wrong in such a unique way. I love it.

I mean, thematically they can be viewed similarly. Wrinkles on humans and rings on trees are both a sign of age. Maybe it can be viewed as a mockery of the insignificance of lifespan in the face of infinity.

@@basic6735 I said "realistic" not Realistic. When it comes to horror in particular, a level of believability is required for it to be immersive or it doesn't work. I'm NOT talking about real in that you have to include sneezing, tiredness, accurate physics etc.

I think this works very well, it definitely makes it easier for these two to look "normal" under the right lighting from a distance. Just shadows from the hat or brows can hide the fact they have no eyes until you get too close.

I feel like gandpa's eyes still look a bit too cartoonish. If for no other reason than that the shapes remind me of a cartoon expression. I think he could use some more uncanniness. Because he looks so friendly, I got the idea of animating his mouth a bit as if he was trying to tell you something, but no sound is coming out. Dunno if it fits your vision.

those are nice holes. looks better indeed. however, what I did like about old eyes is the idea of something poking out from inside. like the whole vibe of this creatures seems to be like it's a skin worn by something that doesn't fit, like the giant alien cockroach from men in black. the old yes were probably too revealing about the foreign nature of creatures, but maybe theres a more subtle way of having things poking through the eyes. one idea I have is maybe have a shader that keys out the black part of eyes to project some kind of image behind them, so that from a certain angle you could see something in the void beyond the eyeholes looking back at you. and not having it move with the creature, as if the holes are see-through and were just looking through them on what is behind, but we just only see it through holes. I'm not sure if my explanation is clear or I'm overexplaining, but hopefully, it is clear😅 some tendrills poking out sometimes could be interesting too

A big problem in a lot of games - including in horror games - is when complicated or realistic creatures/characters are tough to 'read' at a glance. So I like that the first thing the new designs here grab you with is the silhouette of the eye sockets, and the weird exaggerated expressions both have. In addition to Junji Ito vibes, there's a surreal 'scary stories to tell in the dark' book-art vibe of these designs now that feels like whatever corrupted these old folks is sadistically mocking the viewer. I hope that the gameplay and interactions the players have with these creatures is able to keep up with the implications their designs have! Because they definitely deserve some really good animation and strong acting/story moments to capitalize on how memorable they could both be.

Agree, the new eyes a way better. If I can make one little suggestion, because I see you checking the way the textures look in Blender, but imo it's better to import that mesh and texures and setup the material in Unreal and also checking from what distance/angle you will be viewing those characters as a player. That way you will get a better feel on how they will look in the end. Because the hdri and materials in Blender are different from that in Unreal. Yes, it will cost you some time now to set it up in Unreal, but could save you a lot of time in the end.

I wonder if, with some clever shader work, you could make the holes look truly infinitely deep. Like having a static texture, that is bound to the Camera/PlayerView. So if the Granpa/ma move, the texture in their holes would stay static relative to the View of the player. But if the player moves, the texture reacts too. Like a Skybox, that is only visible through these holes. making it look, like what is in these holes is far far away. (Similar to how the stars at night IRL look)

Rather than sculpted "ripples" on both characters, why not try "animated ripples", that radiate INWARD towards the centers of the eye sockets & mouths? Although, I don't personally know how to implement it, I would think there should be a way to include your idea of glowing rings into the animated texture. So, in effect, these glowing rings would be flowing into the the depths of "infinity" within the deepest areas of the holes in your characters. 'Just a thought...

i thought the exact same when he did the neonates touch of infinity, imagined the ring either rippling, or some some of emissive color pulsating arround them, not entirely litting them up, but rather iluminating tiny spots, very faintly, pulsatiog and rotating arround the rings. Could look really ood in a cool and fitting wya, or just look terrible, but might be something to look at (also might be way to complicated to do, but by the way Boro impresses me by how much he can learn, i wouldnt be surprised if he figure out how to do this)

I think it would be a cool addition to have bulging veins coming out of the holes under their skin, especially around the eyes, but it could take away from the "touch of infinity" look. Another thing that could be cool is to see about adding some white "pupils" into their eyes that look like they're very far away, almost as if its whatever is looking through the witness's eyes. I love the new eyes and am just throwing out ideas, but seriously these are awesome looking already!

I definitely thing the new eyes are a huuuuge improvement compared to the previous ones, however I can't help but feel like the new ones make the old couple oddly... adorable in a way. With their goofy grins and the place where their eyes are supposed to be being a solid black, their faces remind me of a Pomeranian puppy! Like, the solid, beady, black eyes. Very cute, imo. Maybe if there was a small detail, or something to hint at there being something within that darkness could change my perception. They currently don't hit that 'uneasiness' that your other works do, but nonetheless, great work!

Awesome video, and they look much better than what they originally were! On a different note, I found something interesting. As time went on in the video, your actual eyes became more and more bloodshot, near your tear ducts. It's ironic that you were working on the eyes of your characters, meanwhile your actual eyes were becoming strained in the process. Completely useless, but something I noticed that I found interesting.

Hey Boro! In the blender shader editor, you can select multiple image textures, hold ALT, while holding ALT change the settings of one image texture (like switching to non color) and it will change all of them... This same logic works pretty much throughout the hole software, whenever you want to change the settings of multiple things at once hold ALT! I wish someone told me about this sooner 😅

I feel there is something to be said about every deformity used to convey horror. Ultimately almost every deformity you see in humanoid monsters is something you can see in a real person to some degree. I think this is one reason why I tend not to like monsters that are too human. They often simply look like regular people with deformities.
