Look great. I always put smoked ham hock in mine. Some collards on the side are good, too. Good luck in 2024

I can get Pictsweet frozen black-eyed peas at my local supermarket. How would the preparation of this dish differ if you were using frozen black-eyed peas?
@LittleMozPlace11 ай бұрын
Check if they have been pre-cooked. If pre-cooked, let them thaw out to room temp and start the cooking process. If not pre-cooked, let them thaw in cool water and soak for a couple of hours.

@@LittleMozPlace I think they're probably pre-cooked. The stovetop cooking directions on the package call for roughly the same amount of cooking time as rice, with no pre-soaking indicated.

@@DOSBoxMom good deal, then just slow cook for about an hour on low to absorb that bacon and onion flavor. They're even better after sitting for a while.

@@LittleMozPlace Sounds great! Black-eyed peas weren't a thing where I grew up in Wisconsin, so I've just started learning about them.

45 minutes from frozen but like he says you wanna check if it's precooked. Most the time it's not and it's flash frozen for very fresh produce. Good advice from LittleMozPlace ❤😊

I bought some and never cooked it. I was loading my fishing rods on the truck as my beans cooked. Wanted to get in some fishing in the beautiful weather. Happy Holidays.

Do they really need a long soak? I keep reading different things.
@LittleMozPlace11 ай бұрын
Longer soak faster cooking , short soak longer cooking. Cooking is about experimentation. What works best for you. Thanks and Happy Holidays

You can do a quick soak too which is a short rapid boil and then an hour (at least) to soak and then cook. Ive done this and it comes out great, like Moz says it's to cut down on cooking time. Google quick soak and you can save a lil time

Long or short I like to discard the water and use fresh for cooking to fart less. I bring to a boil and let sit with burner off for an hour then change water and cook but yep everyone does it different.

@@donutdude6258 You're right about the pass gas remark. I guess that most beans. True - Cook to your taste. Happy New Year.
