One of my best shows was an elementary spring festival. The kids were all there and it was great. I’m guessing the one you went to was just held at the high school and wasn’t an event for the high schoolers. Find one that is geared for the kids.

I've never done a school craft show but like everyone has told you also, all I hear and see is great results. I'm still doing shows under $50 and I've never hit over 500 in sales but I also don't have the time to do big shows and over prepare I have been put in a crummy place and let me tell you I was shocked that I had barely covered my booth. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I did one market at a school last Saturday and made a 13€ profit. A week before that I went to another event (which was supposed to be popular) where I made more sales but the booth price was also higher so I made a 14€ profit. I really hope that Christmas markets do better for me next year

awe, that has to hurt, all that hard work. I live in a small town and after my first 'training' market which was a new market, I decided to crochet only for the big event markets no matter what the cost. I have had those comments too, ridiculous ones, regarding not haggling, insulting price/plushie in order to manipulate me into giving them a deal, spiteful crocheters who were not even vendors but wanted to be etc Accusations of machine made on and on. BUT I also get a lot of positive comments and people rushing to grab an item to buy etc I almost sold out, only things left were the soaked items from the rain, the positives far out way the negatives when you get a well run market and this is also vital to success.

Agreed! I’m definitely going to be researching bigger events near me for next year!

As a fellow vendor, I completely feel for you. The spot / location has everything to do with it - after advertising. Better luck next time

When you pulled out the snowman in the beginning, I thought it was going to be a crochet vase for crochet flowers/plants, I got excited thinking that it was a vase. Love the snowman too though. Hope you have a better experience next year.

Hi I just came across your video. I too do some school craft fairs without much success. At one school craft fair I was $20 in the hole. Another one the profit was $60. And now I've noticed that the ones I do they jacked up the booth price an extra $10 so now it's $60 for a 10x10 booth. And around here people just don't want to buy their kids plushies. So it's totally not worth it.

I feel this. I’m a local artist in my area and I went to a big event, set up the day before and when I showed up a lady had moved my brand new canopy and broke it. No one told me the whole day. I didn’t notice it until I went to take it down and had to track down a guy to try to get reimbursed. My sales were always dismal and I eventually gave up. I wish you the best of luck with your small business. 🍀

Don't feel bad when I first had craft show at my church. They had my friend and I were put in the worst place at the church and didn't do very good that time.

Sorry your market was a disappointment, it does happen to us all once in a while. Could you diversify and have some other crocheted items? Maybe headbands, scrunchies, ear warmers, hats, coasters, pouches, bags or key charms.

I don't crochet but as a vendor I have worse. I once paid 35 for a booth fee and made $20. So I ended up in the hole. I also would try crocheting anime characters. Mario bros. Yoshi etc. Those tend to really sell allot.

Ugh, that’s awful! I’m sorry! Also I totally would but I’m scared of doing copyrighted characters!

@ggcreatesshop true. I wouldn't post them on etsy but seen allot doing them at shows and craft fairs

I live in an area with a very small population, so i totally hear you on that! Sorry this market wasn't as successful as you'd hoped.

I've done many of the same local holiday markets this year as last, but this year theyre performing muchhh worse even though my item quality and selection is better :( im hearing similar from other vendor friends. May just be a bad market year

Did you say people were being rude to you? What happened? 😨 Love the snowman! My last market I didn’t even make my booth fee back. 😩 I did vlog it if you want to check it out.
@ggcreatesshop2 ай бұрын
Yes, unfortunately. Some lady made a snarky comment about how the yarn I use just breaks? Like clearly my stuff isn’t falling apart so why make the comment lol. And I’ll definitely have to check it out!
@Knot_Made2 ай бұрын
@ that’s weird! I know it can snap while working with it, but you’d have to really be hard on a finished plushie to make it snap. 😬
