Thank you for your calm, dignified manner. It really adds a lot knowing full well that this cost you a spoon for today. I know how precious those spoons are and I am so grateful that you take the time to nurture this community. Love from NYC ❤️

Deep gratitude for your gentle and felt words, they are very much how l feel at this time every year. But l do also feel strength, support and caring hope as l realize that even if things are pretty damn hard, others like ukranians are facing hell from the sky once again. Wish you and all this loving community ease and a gentle transition into 2023. Slava Ukraine!

Dear Vlad, though not ME related, I would like to send my love, respect and wishes of health to you for the new year. I was (before the Ukraine war started) a Scandinavian social client mainly concerned with the not inconsiderable challenges of my own life. In spite of my age and lack of military training and combat experience, I was feverishly looking for some way of connecting more with the values of democracy and freedom, that I found myself willing to die for. But I'm was to old t ok join up. Then I found your channel . And through that I have learned so many wonderful ways to understand or at least try to understand larger concepts of the world, and what it means, on a broader scale to be democratic af fighting/working for freedom. Through your videos I have raised my on standards from just 'helping to reduce Putin's fighting resources' (or die trying) to becoming a 'more enlightened world citizen and a force for good' (or something like that). I will for the rest of this incarnation be grateful to you for opening my eyes, as much as they are currently willing, to a more profound connectedness with the greater world and the positive concepts of its improvement, like freedom and democracy. And if you can create as much meaning for your ME community, as you have for the rest of us, I would expect them to be grateful as well. Happy New Year to all.

Dear Vlad, I am "only" suffering from a mild form of fatigue (that might not be related to a virus infection), but I am very much moved by your story and that of others with ME. Could you once talk about 1. what friends can do (besides recognizing them) for people with MS (and what they absolutley should not do) and 2. what we as your community can do (I will connect to some grpup in Germany as soon as I am back in Europe). Lots of Love, I am so happy you realized that you can connect to us even on one of the "today it is a very slow dance" days.

Dear Vlad, I have a friend with what I believe to be ME, although she does not have a diagnosis. (there are also psychological issues, which make it very hard to get one). I would love for you to do more on how to support people with ME. I get her B12, some meals and odd favours. I would love to hear what your friends do for you that makes a difference if that is possible? Much Love for 2023

Agreed, holidays are meant to be alienating. Just say no. Happy solstice. Here's the ritual. Imagine that you, like every person in history, are aware that the days are getting longer once again. That's it.

I would like to tell you a story that I hope will be helpful to some of you who are suffering from ME. At the least, I hope it will help maintain hope that there can be better days. In the early 1980's, I was a young neuroscientist just starting a career. I was on the faculty of a neurology department at a decent medical school when I contracted a viral infection that devastated my nervous system. After some of the major acute problems receded I was left with classic ME signs, especially fatigue, mental fogginess, and the rest of the usual suspects. I retired on full disability. As time went on and the Internet developed (yeah, I'm that old), I was able to keep up with developments in a wide spectrum of science. While reading a review of research on mitochondrial function, I read about experiments with compounds that enhance "dysfunctional" mitochondria. I decided to try a product ("Basis") released by Elysium Health (elysiumhealth.com). Let me be clear, other than being a customer, I have NO financial connection with the company in any way. I decided to try Basis because Elysium was founded by distinguished scientists and the components made scientific sense (I'll spare you the technical details but it's described on their website). I noticed an increase in energy and sense of well-being within a week and I have taken it for years now. I don't want to sound like it was a magic cure for everything. It was not. But what it did do was improve my energy level to where I could begin to take active steps to improve my health. I started becoming more active and got to the point where I could maintain an active exercise routine and I had the energy to prepare decent food rather than eat fast food. The changes became a positive feedback loop and I am healthier and feel better than at any other point in my adult life. Last year I took a test of "biological age" based on a measure of epigenetic changes associated with aging. My chronological age was 72 and "biological age" was 53. This was better than 98% of others of my age. I wish I could promise you similar results but this particular treatment works well with dysfunctional mitochondria but has little effect on normal mitochondria. Virtually all ME involves fatigue but not all fatigue is due to problems with mitochondria. However, even if it does not always help, knowing that there is active research going on helps keep hope alive. And if circumstances permit, do not go gentle into that good night and take any opportunity to actively improve your health. I am touched and inspired by the stories of heart and compassion here. I hope I have added to that stream in some small way.
