Holiday on the EDSA Busway

Many cars and motorcycles were apprehended for misusing the exclusive EDSA bus lane today.
The drivers were surprised to see an enforcement operation even during a holiday.

Even if they conceal the identity of the driver, I think they can give a description and/or photo or video of the incident - and then share the conclusion of the show-cause order. That way the public will know that there's really a consequence to running from the law.

My nephew run away too and he taught he was able to free himself from being ticketed. But he paid a big amount when he registered his motorcycle. That's including the charges and penalties from running away.

Why is there no PNP on big bikes waiting to chase runners. There are people with no plate. There is no motivation to not run. Without a plate, there is no way t😢o issue a Show Cause order.

In the US, when they stop a motorcycle, they make them turn off the bike and take the key so they can't run. The enforcers should stop the rider, have them turn off the bike and make them push it to the side to get their tickets. These are small light bikes, easy to do and won't take much time and will prevent them from running.

I provide it to the agency involved. It's a normal practice for witnesses, media, and anyone else that has information - to feed it through to the relevant agency. But 99% of the time, an enforcer or other personnel on the ground already has the plate number - if not a photo / video.

That's normal. And has been for years. I've always been on the fence about whether to show it or not. It happens to MMDA, LTO, SAICT, PNP - it's a common problem every single day. My hope is that by showing it, there can be an improvement in the process involved in taking action against those people who run away.

They've announced the results in some viral or high profile incidents in the past. So it seems like it's possible 🤷 In fact, there were many times in the past where they even released the full SCO, which included all the personal details of the driver. I can understand if they conceal the personal details, but a description of the violation, any relevant photo or video and then an overview of the outcome seems reasonable.

Hi gadget addict, I’m the one in motorcycle who called you kanina. Hehe. I saw how light the traffic is that time but still many drivers were apprehended. This clearly shows that the problem and reason why they are doing this is not the heavy traffic anymore. It’s the lack of values of the people and how they disrespect (or lost their respect to) the law and law enforcers. Having a driver’s license is not a right but a privilege, and it seems that people with license are being too privileged to the point that they feel that they can do anything on the road. Apprehension is not enough, they should undergo values formation.

And yes, nag comment na ako last week kung ano nga ba nangyayari sa mga "show cause" order na to,. andami violators the past several months at mga tumatakas etc. yung namedropping babae na may connection daw with General kung sino, these things should be available to the public. Kailangan pa ba freedom of information act request para dito? dapat din yung mga pinag show cause order, pag nag report na sa LTO, public din yung conversation or admission nila or kung ano man yung pagdadahilan nila para magawang public record yung katangahan na pagdadahilan nila.

US cops can use force and firepower if and when necessary, gaya na lang kapag pinapatigil ka nila pero di ka tumigil. This is disappointing. MMDA has not repainted the line markings along EDSA. They have a budget for this but no action is taken. I drove this morning from Ortigas to Makati. The road markings are still the same.... some are gone.

What I don't understand is that why is there no cooperation between the police and the enforcers. Riders that are running away have a higher chance of them being a criminal than those who stop. They should atleast make it so if they do stop if the police's big bike give chase it would have been the 3rd penalty, but if they do give chase then put it up to a criminal offence.

There should be stiffer penalties with people that evade. Here in the US, that's jail time (Felony Reckless Evading). I'm pretty sure these guys get home and tell the story about how he evaded the traffic enforcers. Probably having a good laugh too while telling the story. Goodluck getting timely and meaningful action from LTO to do the bare minimum of their job in apprehending this traffic violators. From delayed releasing of motor plates and licenses, non registration renewal delinquents, update of OR/CR to latest owner, cloned motor plates, to fixers/ special treatment/ vip at every level this govt agency is corrupt to the core. Bakit di muna pahintuin, kung nasaan ang motor at kunin muna ang lisensya bago patabihin? Sa ganitong paraan, HINDI o WALA man lang maaaring makatakbo gaya ng nakunang video. Isa rin ito siguro sa makapagtataas ng moral sa mga enforcer, at magiging aware ang mga violator. Ang lakas ng loob nilang tumakas pag ganyan may kaluwagan sa pagpapahinto.

LTO should consider implementing license plates in both front and back of MCs to prevent escaping during apprehension. Syempre disgaree dito most of the MC riders. Pero wala eh. Nasisira image ng ibang riders dahil sa ilang mga kamote na hindi sumusunod sa batas. Simpleng pagsuot ng helmet, hindi magawa. Hindi dapat dumaan ng bus lane, pilit pa ring gagawin. 🤦‍♂️
