So do you think the J&B Weld will improve flow or will the extra material choke down the flow? 🤔

It would be cool if you could wet flow it to monitor atomization. 1 3/4" throttle blades will reduce the signal , 1 11/16" would be better. If you shade the areas you want to cut with a Sharpie, it will make your eyes happy.

The larger throttle blades should improve signal, more cfm can pass through the bigger butterflies causing more velocity through the smaller venturi pulling on the booster more? 🤔
@427_FE

@@newguysgarage6802Throttle response at low to mid range is more important. Unless you only are worried about total bench flow. I was referring to driveability. I would test the smaller throttle plates first , then you will have a baseline. It will be cool to see the differance .
@newguysgarage6802
@newguysgarage6802 10 ай бұрын
@@427_FE yep we are going to use the 600 baseplate first then move onto the 750 to see the difference. But even in low to mid throttle opening the bigger butterflies would let more air pass by so more air would be pulled through the smaller venturi and through the boosters causing more throttle response is the way I was thinking about it. Dose that make sense or am I thinking about it wrong 🤔 The bigger throttle blades and more taper in the bores would flow more cfm, so they become less of a restriction. Therefore the venturi opening itself would get drawn on more and become a bigger "restriction" making velocity flowing through it to go up resulting in more pull on the boosters as well?

Hey man, you got me wondering, lol. I made a short and name dropped you. I had an extra set of boosters for my Edelbrock AVS2. I figured why not try and do what you did. The short is up on my channel now, I have no way of proving if it makes a difference but giogen by your videos, but it obviously should.

I assume the velocity stack was creating lift using the Coanda effect. Some think the effect was used on the old "flying saucers", interestingly the velocity stack is the inverse shape of a UFO. Lol Either way, the Coanda effect will cause the air to cling more densely to the outer portions of the carb barrels.

That is probably what is happening yep lol 😁 I am going to use that to my advantage later on 😃

Hey man like I said before love the videos love what your doin and I think your on the right track I also think your probably right, I’d bet your gunna loose a little bit of signal in the low end but In the top end I’d bet that’s what’s going to be the money maker and you should talk to your guy who is doing your flow bench work and see if he can figure out the velocity the air is entering the carb at and the velocity it’s leaving at but over all I think your going in the right path and if you look at like a race carb on a dirt bike the main jet is at the very bottom of the inlet port of the carb so I’d bet it probably still mix’s the fuel pretty well but test will show lol

If this is just a flowbench carb that will never see fuel it might be easier to finish up with something easier to sand smooth like Bondo or maybe even drywall compound.

So what does the bar through the booster do. Does it have any function?
@newguysgarage6802
@newguysgarage6802 10 ай бұрын
Its basically a built in choke for the boosters 🙂 Because they are up so high above the venturi they dont have great signal, so that bar helps create more suction just like a choke does.
