did you ever find out why there was such a big void under the slab? either way, great job explaining stuff as always Mr O 👍

I would say before the dams on the river there was a lot of growth in the area, so organics are decomposing leaving voids.

Question - 10 ft x 8 ft x 6in deep slab for my new shed. Requires 89 - 60 lb bags. Rebar n wire are done, its ready for concrete. I wish i had help but i dont. Can 1 person mix and pour manually or is it a redi mix truck only project? Thanks

@durangodaveАй бұрын
@@OdellCompleteConcrete 30ft access and bad back. i might just hire some day labor to get the concrete in the frame, i can take it from there. $2000 budget to build my shed n looks like its gonna take half of that just for the slab 😒😒 even with me doing the prep work. Thanks for reply, i got some thinking to do i guess.

@VenturiLife7 күн бұрын
I'd stake the wire before rolling it all out, prevents one end coming free while you're arranging and straightening it out. This is classic way to get injured, and unwrapping saw-blades, uncompressing car shock-absorber springs, is a similar thing, with a lot of potential kinetic energy that's invisible to our eyes being a hazard that can be unleashed easily and very quickly.

I wonder if people ever take the broken concrete out, excavate the sand, then put the broken concrete back into the ground as support for the new slab. I bet that concrete would be a strong base. Of course you would still have a bunch of earth to deal with instead of broken concrete at the end of the day.
@OdellCompleteConcreteАй бұрын
I seen a newbie break the concrete in place and then just put sand and cement over it. What a mess.

Interesting that the pavers can't be recycled. I always thought pavers were made out of concrete or dyed concrete. 😅
@OdellCompleteConcreteАй бұрын
Pavers can be made of many different materials; in this case they are brick.
@mark77193Ай бұрын
They can be crushed & recycled, they don't like them in the basecourse for roads, but are fine in the base under driveways, paths etc where there won't be lots of heavy traffic. So the recyclers like to keep that sort of stuff separated from the hard concrete.
