In the manga, as Byakuya looked at Ichigo, he saw a glimpse of Kaien when he talked about fighting the law. Unfortunately, the anime removed that subtle but important scene.

@@shinon748 That was not the point of the scene at all. The implication was that Kaien would've done the same thing. It gave more context as to why Byakuya had resentment towards the Shiba clan that was built up in the arc itself. You're looking at it on a very surface level simply just because you knew something in the later arcs. There were more layers than just the hint you spoke of. It was more about the history of Soul Society.

i mean the most he gains is just him compressing it around his blade to give it more power. he never learns anything else. its pretty pathetic and stupid considering he's a soul reaper hollow and quincy. hell throw fullbringer into that. 4 completely different power systems and he just only ever uses the soul reaper one. if he mastered all of them he would be throwing around the quincy leader and turning him into a joke. btw I'm not even going to attempt to spell his name XD. but series he only learned 1 out of the 4 powers he has. massive waste of potential. also his father never telling I'm that he's part quincy was moronic. i can understand when he has no powers but after he became a soul reaper he should have told him.

ye i mean, i kinda think Byakuya didn't wanna win, cause let's be honest, Ichigo couldn't move anymore, he could've just turned and shoot kido at him, but he left instead, he also left with shumpo like a gigachad. Shuukei Hakuteiken is one of my favourite moments too, that shit looks sick. translation wise it means "Final Stage - White Emperor's Sword" (something along those lines).

I mean... If you rewatch it, Byakuya's expression is one of resignation... I think that after seeing Ichigo refusing to use his hollow spirit to defeat him, he acknowledged that the boy had honour, so he could concede defeat without losing his own honour. Senbonzakura's blade began scattering as soon as it crossed Zangetsu. I maintain that it Byakuya doing that. In the end, I believe he wanted to save Rukia, which is why he threw the fight as immediately explained to Ichigo his reasons...

So, Hollow Ichigo strikes back? That's my fauvorite character in series. He's as blood thirsty as Zaraki and he's much better at using Zangetsu powers, than Ichigo himself... so.. every time he shows up, things get spicy :) Now, you can call that guy: Hollow Ichigo, or White Ichigo, or just simply: White... although he himself would like to be called other name... (once you watch, you'll hear it, and later in series you'll understand)

I dunno if I'm right here but I think if I consider the whole of Bleach, the maximum number of techniques/moves we know about belongs to Senbonzakura aka Byakuya's zanpakuto. What I mean is I dont think there is any other zanpakuto in the series in terms of number of techniques that we the viewer know about that exceeds Byakuya's zanpakuto Maybe Hyorinmaru (Hitsugaya's zanpakuto) comes close or has a comparable number of technoques that we know about

@@Angel_Rod That was just Byakuya reshaping his blades to sword-like things, when he released Senkei in this episode he himself said that Ichigo was only the second person to ever see it, few months back Tite Kubo himself was asked who was the first one to see it, but Kubo only said that he couldn't say it yet.

Byakuya didn't lose the fight. Even disregarding Ichigo healing while the hollow power took over and it doing most of the damage to Byakuya Ichigo couldn't even stand without his sword, Byakuya was still able to Shunpo away. Byakuya lost the argument and conceded the fight.

So the reason Ichigo started struggling against Byakuya is because he wasn't used to his bankai yet. The hollow mentions that he was being crushed by his own spiritual pressure and as a result his body was slowing down from that pressure. So if Ichigo had the three days to master bankai then he may have managed to win without the mask with less stress on his body. What I want to know is why Kisuke didn't train him to use bankai while they had ten days of training. He was literally sending Ichigo to his death by not teaching him bankai. If he came across any other captain besides Kenpachi then he would have died or been put in prison. Not that I'm downplaying Kenpachi. Ichigo was just able to match his intensity and Kepachi loves to screw around and enjoy the fight. Also there is a great lore explanation for why he can take on two captains with bankai and be the dominant fighter but narrowly lose to a shikai ichigo. Trust me all plot holes are addressed. Eventually.
