Thanks for sharing this Alex. The bans extending across the Grampians and nearby Arapiles has been a devastating for Australian climbers. There is no precedent around the world for such a widespread ban of an established region of high quality climbing (thousands of routes over hundreds of crags), encompassing trad, sport and boulders.

I've been climbing at the Grampians for close to 10 years. It has been an absolute blow to us aussie climbers. Watching this is quite sad, to think we're no longer able to climb here in the foreseeable future. Thanks for all your support Alex and bringing this to attention.

Thanks for this video, it will take sensible informed leadership by climbing gods like yourself to ensure ongoing access to many great areas.

Thanks for this Alex - both for leaving the cave better than you found it, and clear evidence that international tourists not only came to the Grampians for climbing, but respected the place.

Thanks for cleaning up the cave. A posotive example of climbers looking after the places we climb at! The cave is unfortuantely not on the list for potential future reopening in the finalised Grampians plan, but so long as the rock still exists, we will keep plugging awwy, trying to find a solution that lamd managers and Traditional Owners are comfortable with for us to return to climbing in the cave.

You´ve just earned a bunch of respect points from me, more than any hard send you are used to do regularly. Thanks for using your visibility to demonstrate that sometimes we gotta spend a fraction of our "climbing time" trying to keep our sacred areas clean (and hopefully open to the community!). 🙏

Awesome! I always get the feeling when I get to a boulder and see chalk all over it. I know that that's what the sport entails, but damn... people need to brush afterwards! Leave nothing but footsteps, take nothing but photographs!

do you reckon they had committees 30,000 years ago telling cavemen not to graffiti on the rocks, yet 30,000 years later they're history. for all you know, in 5,000 years those hikers names and dates could have been a tourist attraction. Megos took down future history!!!!!!!!!!

I love climbing and would absolutely love to climb in the Grampians, the routes look stunning and the ban must really suck for local climbers. But I also get that it's important to protect Aboriginal art and sites of archeological significance. Hopefully a work around solution can be found. Maybe one where climbers can work with indigenous people and help them protect these sites so that graffiti like that and other damage left by hikers and day walkers (no shade but its almost always them lol) can be avoided.
